Capable and Accurate
This machine really works! I've used it on all sorts of woods, hard and soft, and it hasn't faltered. One turn of the elevation crank equals 1/16 inch, so a quarter turn takes 1/64, and half of that takes 1/128 inch. I've confirmed that. I can't really comment on noise level because I routinely use earmuff sound protection. My only gripe isn't against the machine but rather about the rolling base. I find it quite difficult to raise via the pedal that's mounted deep under the machine. On the other hand, the pedal doesn't stick out beyond the footprint of the machine, which then require more storage area. I use a 2 foot long 1x2 to easily raise and lower the machine, so I haven't deducted anything from my perfect 5 star rating.

It's better than most lunchbox planars I've used
I mostly do intersia on the scroll saw and this planar can really get some thin sheets planed down. You have to be careful of grain direction or the sheets will come apart and you'll be picking pieces out of it for hours. All in all, better than my lunchbox and can tune most of the snipe out of it.

Best Planner for the home shop
Love my planner. Simply the best for a small shop. I got it with the table (which takes some time to assemble) but makes life so much easier when space is limited. The planner is very easy to use and very accurate. You can plug in a vac shop directly for dust control. Recommended.

What you would expect from Dewalt
Great planner. The dust vent works well. The table is at the perfect height. The only thing to know is that the wheels are small so they do not go over bumps well.

Knives chipped very quickly
Not long after the first use, probably after the tenth time using it (between light and moderate use), started noticing scratch lines on the stock. First one, eventually four. I believe is the knives, but damn, so early in the life of it?!

Great planer
This is a great planer for a small workspace. The mobile base is very sturdy. The planer comes out of the box accurately set up and ready to go.
