Since there is no clear way of contacting the seller to ask for help, I will describe the problem here. The remote is suppose to work up to 100 feet away. The remote turns the outlet on from a good distance, but you have to be with in about 20 feet to turn it off. So if that's all you need, okay, I need the full, PROMISED distance.. Poor quality... Update: I finally got in touch with the seller: They sent another unit, EXACT same problem, they sent another, "better" upgraded version. It worked! But they are saying the first one worked, and that there are other electronic devices that can cause poor performance I these outlets. I am an RF Engineer, and the FCC requires that RF items not interfere with, and are not affected by interference from other electronics, so by their own admission, these units are not FCC compliant. Do not buy them unless you want poor performance and other possible trouble. There are plenty of other, similar items on Amazon , sold by reputable sellers, that will do the job, for about the same price. ... show more

The neutral wire wasn't completely soldered to the board and the print overloaded and burned. Thankfully it didn't cause a fire. This was after just a few months use but it's been working intermittently for most of that time so it's been slowly getting worse until it completely failed today. Update: due to my bad review the seller offered a free replacement unit. It arrived today and I opened up the case to inspect the wiring and found the same defect of incomplete soldering on the neutral wire at the circuit board. If I pull enough current through this unit, it will overheat just like the last one. ... show more

This is the 3rd or 4th outdoor remote I've tried off of Amazon and this one has lasted the longest and worked the best out off all! I think a big part of this is due to the fact you plug whatever you need to control in the botton of the unit. No moisture getting into the outlet on the unit because its facing down. Ive even gone so far on past units to putting silicone sealant to keep from getting wet inside. I haven't done that to this one and its been in heavy rain and sub zero temperatures here in Wisconsin. I use it to control a light on my garage when the dogs are in the backyard. Also, this is the only one that had an on/off button on the unit. That button lights up green when either pushed or turned on with the remote. Usually rain or cold temps killed the other remotes i tried, but this one is going strong!! Purchased in May to switch 2 outside LED light strings from inside the house and it is already dead. I used it only a few times over the summer. Remote was ok (for a distance of 40 feet) except for 1 or 2 times when it did not turn on for no apparent reason and I had to walk out and push the button. Anyway, it barely made it thru the summer. Not sure when it died but when I tried it in Dec, it was already dead. Checked inside in case something just got loose, but it seems to be a capacitor that is blown up (see the picture). UPDATE: After I realized it came with 1 year warranty, I reached out to Dewenwils support and they are great. They responded promptly and are now sending a replacement unit. I originally gave this product a one star review as the original outlet was dead on arrival. A replacement was promptly shipped to me and second one worked as it should. While there appeared to be a quality control problem with the first unit, the seller responded very quickly. Four stars for having to replace what otherwise would have been a five star product. Bought this for $11.55 at Amazon. Wanted to be able to turn the back yard flood lights on and off without having to walk out to the shed where the switch is. Plugged it in in a matter of seconds. Went inside to sit in my favorite chair to see if the remote would work through a brick wall and over about 60 feet or so. Worked perfectly. One really nice touch is that the remote has separate buttons for on and off. Doesn't help me in this application because I can see whether the flood lights are on or not, but if I put one of these on the heater in my greenhouse next winter... having separate buttons would help me out, because I would know for sure that I whether I was turning it off or on, without going out there to check it. Watch out with this one, the one I ordered arrived with wires not soldered to the board, outlet and shorting out. It got extremely hot after 5 minutes of use so I took it apart to see why. Customer service has since reached out and gave me a replacement that I feel comfortable using. I did take it apart as well and everything on number 2 is acceptable. ... show more

This might be overkill for what i needed, but its working perfect. I have a vacuum tube amplifier on a shelf in my study that has a power switch on the back side. Turning the unit on is easy as you can reach over it and turn the switch on, but turning it off means sticking your arm in a narrow space with a very hot amplifier possibly touching your skin. One press of the mini remote and its on, or off. I'm using it inside, and am fairly close to the unit when I am using the remote, but I tested it from the other end of a large house and it worked fine. Its very well built, seems to handle plenty of current, and I like that it also has a on/off switch on the unit itself in case the remote batter dies or something. I appreciate the other reviews here as they helped me to decide on this specific model over some of the other ones on Amazon. ... show more
