I’ve went through a lot of plugs in my day. I also own 6 of these plugs, and this plug earned its “5-Star” review. If you are a SmartThings user, you will really like this plug. After you hookup this plug to SmartThings, you will see that the plug works with SmartThings’ “Energy Mode” in the “Life” section. You can use the “AI Energy” mode in SmartThings to save energy on whatever is connected to this plug. This device can first connected to either TP-Link App, “Kasa” or “Tapo”. In both of these Apps, you will see live power control as well as the history. There is also a “Power Protection” mode that turns off the device if it exceeds “X” amount of power. Using matter to connect this plug is extremely fast and simple. 2 plugs can easily connect to the same wall outlet. This plug is white without writing all over it. The only writing is on the sticker with the matter code on the side. This allows the matter code to be easily scanned in. Also, you can change the icons to match the device, but the selection is limited. 17 icons. If you have many things that need to be plugged-in around the same area, I would recommend a TP-Link Smart Power Strip. These are nice because you can connect up to 6 devices in one power strip, and they will stay nested under that one device. Otherwise, you will just end up with screens and screens of individual plugs. If you do need individual plugs, I would recommend getting these. Remember, these plugs connect via matter. If you don’t have a matter connection, you will have to get a different plug. If you do buy them, you won’t regret it. I sincerely hope this helps out someone to get the info they need.

Once they are connected they work very well. I had to contact support that was very responsive which was nice but it was just re-doing the whole linking set up multiple times until it found my network. It works well for the lamp that I plugged. The thing i didn't like was having to download another app to set up the product - once it was setup then Alexa found it and added it but I had to download their app first.

While a bit bulky, these are the best plugs I've used and I'm in the process of changing all of my various plugs over to this one brand. I really love the customization aspect of the plugs. My favorite feature is that I can tell it my location and it can determine when sunset and sunrise is and sync my lights to them. I was sick of constantly changing my timers for my evening lights and when they turn off in the morning when the sun rises. This does that for me!!!

These Matter smart plugs allows monitoring of power usage. You can setup 2 rates based on cents/KWH with per month and each hour. For example, rate x for October- May, rate y for June-September. Peak 4-9pm, non-peak 9pm-4pm. You can get power usage, as well as overall cost per month. At times, these can be a real pain to setup based on whatever app you use, unless it is Tapo (which I use) or Kasa.

I'm not familiar with using smart devices, but these Kasa plugs are working fine. The setup took a little fussing, but if I can do it, anybody can. I don't know that any other brands are any better. The instructions helped a lot. You do have to operate the plugs from an app on your phone. Some complaints with smart plugs were that they lost contact with the router. I had a power outage for a couple of hours, and it didn't affect the operation. I'm considering purchasing a couple more for other locations in the house for when we go on vacation. I'll stick with Kasa so they will all work with the same app.

I've had this for about a month and it's working great. I hate downloading another app for my phone but you need to in order to get it working. I have mine connected with my Alexa system to control a bedroom light. It was easy to set up and found my wifi quickly. You don't need the app after setup so now it's part of one of my Alexa routines. Does not lose connectivity and functions as described.
