I bought this one because I bought the 12" DeWalt saw and had great luck with it. The Blade for this one wore out a bit early and replacement blades were a little hard to find, but as far as the actual functioning of the saw, it's great! I have one small comment that has nothing to do with the saw, but the carrying case handle broke off (I was able to snap it back on) the first time I picked it up, Ha! I love the chainsaw, the only issue is when I am cutting down hardwoods, ex. (Hickory, Oak) the battery doesn't last long at all. I bought it and got the longest bar offered thinking it would be fine handling the trees. The saw itself is ready, and it is DeWalt tuff. I have the 16" saw and wanted a larger version for bigger logs. This saw has the power to cut bigger trees and it has the same features of the 16" version. I have the two saws and the 14 foot pole saw in my UTV when I go to cut or trim trees. It is great, quite, starts every time and rips through the trees. The down side is the battery life is not that long but I have two batteries and I am old enough that I don't want to be out there all day cutting wood so this is perfect for me.     • Defective parts
The chain kept coming off the track after every few cuts. I tightened the chain according to instructions but nothing changed, so I opened up the sprocket cover, and saw the chain tensioning screw cover was slightly lifted. The tension screw cover is a flexible plastic piece that can easily pop free and cause this issue. After properly setting the cover I tried to tighten the screw and it continued to make the same grinding sound as before, so I removed the cover and could see that the screw was stripped, and the reason for the sound. This was the first time I used it so it makes me wonder if they sent me a saw that was returned with defective parts. It was outside of the one month return Amazon return period so I contacted DEWALT directly. They referred me back for the seller and then to a link where I could ship it to a service provider to see if it will be covered by warranty. I can’t even get them to send me the the tension screw parts for me to replace myself. It is a run around nightmare. I should have and will purchase my tools through Home Depot like I usually do. ... show more

    • Dewalts battery cannot hold a charge.
Cutting firwood. I am 73 and have cancer and their battery cannot keep up with me. It's safe it cuts well when I sharpen it, but the battery life is a disaster...... not as advertised. you are lucky to cut for 20 minutes on a full charge, and it takes forever to charge. Perhaps I got a defective battery but I will be darned if I shell out big money for a back up. Check the cost of another Dewalt 60V/flex volt max. Stick with Husquvarna and Stihl. ... show more

    • 20 Inch Dewalt chainsaw
The saw works fine, but the battery runs out rather quickly. I made about 8 cuts of 18" pine then the battery drained. Cuting smaller diameter it lasted longer maybe 20 cuts on average 12" logs. Battery takes about 2 hours to recharge. I looked up other battery powered chainsaws this seems to be a recurring theme for the larger saws. Otherwise the saw works great I recommend it for very occasional use, not for every day nor professional use at all. ... show more

    • Easy to handle
I’ve always liked Dewalt tools. This thing cuts great and easy to maneuver. Battery life is the only issue but it’s not a gas powered saw. Extra batteries are expensive. If you can afford it buy an extra to keep you going. Have to do research to find correct extra chain. Overall I like it very much.
