  • Dewalt 20V Max String Trimmer Kit
This DEWALT 20V MAX String Trimmer Kit has been an excellent addition to my lawn tools. It’s lightweight, easy to handle, and has plenty of power to tackle thick grass and weeds around the yard. The brushless motor runs smoothly and efficiently, and the battery life from the included 5Ah battery is impressive — I can finish my trimming without constantly worrying about recharging. I really like the variable speed control because it lets me save battery on lighter jobs while still having extra power when needed. The folded guard design also gives a wider cutting swath, making yard work faster and more efficient. Another big plus is how quiet and convenient it is compared to gas trimmers — no mixing fuel, no pull cords, and very little maintenance. It starts instantly every time with the push of a button. Overall, this trimmer delivers great performance, durability, and convenience. Highly recommend for homeowners looking for a reliable cordless trimmer! ... show more

  • Night and Day Difference: Worx 20v vs DeWalt 20v
I have had a frustrating experience with a Worx battery-fueled trimmer 20V that has .065mm line. Aside from the many issues I had with the spools not feeding smoothly, when it did work, the line would not cut through runners of St. Augustine grass that were creeping along my sidewalk. I spent a lot of time trying different spools from different manufacturers to solve the line problem. No luck. I gave up. I saw the DeWalt trimmer, which also is 20v, but uses .080 line. I decided I didn't have a "power" problem as much as I had a heavy-duty need. Today I received my DeWalt trimmer and after charging the battery, took it for a test drive in my back yard where I hadn't been able to trim in quite a while. I am astounded at the difference it makes with the thicker line. It cuts -- like the Worx never did. So very pleased! It is heavy for me, but I can manage it well by using my thigh to balance the weight. I find that it seems like a much better piece of equipment than the one I replaced. On my trial run, this seems to be what need, even though it cost quite a bit more. I also adjust from right-handed use to left-handed use in terms of holding the power buttons. Works fine either way. I did get cocky and try to cut through a live bamboo culm and the string came undone. I'll get to learn how to string it again tomorrow, but for tonight -- I am very pleased with this tool, and can't wait to have my yard trimmed again! When unboxing, pay attention. The screws provided to attach the shield were in a small bag, and I didn't find them when unpacking, but when I went back to the box ready to go in the garbage, I located them. Ten minutes to assemble and out the door I went. ... show more

  • I will never use a gas powered trimmer ever again
This is actually the 2nd one I bought and I love it. I have 2 acres with a bunch of trimming required because of tight spots I cant get the mower and the ditch and my battery never goes dead on me. But even if it did I have more batteries since all my power tools are dewalt so that was never an issue anyway for me ... show more

  • Be sure to keep it clean. Overall, worth the $
Purchased on 6/20/2021 RIP as of 5/22/2025 I never cleaned it and I used it most of the time after mowing the lawn over the past 4 years. It appears the circuit board burned out due to debris getting inside the head and into the motor circuit board. (Prior to today I had no idea that was placed there.) While trimming today I saw a puff of smoke come out of the head as it stopped working. Four stars cause it worked great till it didn’t work anymore; and with minimal maintenance. (Just replacing trimmer line.) Took a star away for the design. Positioning the circuit board in a place where it will be spending its life in moisture and grass seems to be nonsense to me. *Pro tip if you get this make sure to regularly use compressed air to blow out the holes in the head of the trimmer. Hopefully it would help prolong the life of the unit. **As an additional note, these pix were taken after disassembly and cleaning it up to try and diagnose it. ... show more

  • Another great DeWalt 20v cordless tool
I'm no environmentalist, so this review isn't here to convince anyone to go electric; I'm not into that, but if that is your thing, you won't be disappointed. I chose this model because as I age, my love of horsepower is giving way to a back that wants less of a load and this little weed whacker does that exceptionally well. It is incredibly easy to use, no need for ear plugs, no fuel to mess with, and no difficult starting or having to winterize the carburetor. Pop in a DeWalt 20v battery and you are in business. The twine it came pre-loaded with seems just right for this tool; I will be ordering more of that. I ran it for about an hour before having to switch batteries. It cuts very well and is easy to control. By far, the easiest weed whacker I have ever used. Being electric, it doesn't have the vibration of a gas-powered machine and the light-weight cordless design is so much easier than any corded unit I have ever used. A true winner all around! The only con is that if you have a lot of trimming to do, you will need at least one extra battery to recharge while you are using the one on the tool. Otherwise, expect some downtime to recharge. But fortunately, unlike the electric car, the extra batteries aren't very expensive and are changed in only a few seconds. I highly recommend this tool. Thank you DeWalt for another winner in your 20v cordless line-up. ... show more

  • Battery Powered DeWalt Trimmer - 2nd to none !
I purchased this w/ battery and charger because I have DeWalt drill which is outstanding. I had a Ryoby trimmer. It was junk and stopped working well after about dozen uses. Same w/ Ryoby blower. This DeWalt weed eater trimmer is extremely powerful. I had to cut thru very thickly rooted grass to fix a lawn sprinkler. ‘Piece of cake!" Assembles easy (but I’m pretty handy). The instructions are not that good but between them and the picture on the box it assembled in about 25 minutes. With good instructions, would be 7 minutes or less. There’s always youtube. This is not for edging per the instructions, but you can twist it sideways for trimming; but the head doesn’t turn 90 deg for that. It is extremely well balanced and it is long. I’m 5’10.5" and it is great. I think a smaller person -say 5’4" or less, may have trouble guiding it … not sure. Again, it is so very very easy to operate and very powerful. I did not time the battery but it lasted for all the work I had. You will not be disappointed. It’s worthwhile getting a good product to begin with, even if its $20-$40 more. You’ll save over $100 by not having to throw away a poor item. ... show more

  • NO PRODUCT OR CUSTMER SUPPORT!
Dewalt Support Non Existent!! DO NOT BUY THIS DEWALT WEED TRIMMER, IT WILL FAIL AND THEY WILL IGNORE YOU! Customer support is very bad and there is no real support. This specific item has known issues which Dewalt will ignore. The first unit I purchased failed within 3 months. I had a very hard time getting needed support (they like to ignore your request for support, drag out the process by asking questions already answered, and then ignore you until you go away). Support prefers phone calls so that there is no official record or documentation. After months of going back and forth and just about throwing in the towel on the unit and brand, one supervisor came forward and actually did not right thing and helped me resolve the matter. Long story short, I am a long time customer of Dewalt and have many tools and storage units which have worked great. This specific weed trimmer package purchased (DCST9221) was great when it worked; light and easy to use. But when it failed, support was horrible and their tactics are to frustrate the customer until they give up. I say this because being a loyal customer, enjoying the light weight of the unit which made it easier to use for an older man, I MISTAKENLY gave Dewalt a second chance and purchased another unit thinking the first was an outlier. My second experience with this trimmer was only different in that the support was even worst then the first time. Once again the trimmer failed (according to the support, the motor failed which has been out of stock for months) after only6 uses; just outside of the 90 day return window. I contacted customer support and experienced the same run around only worse. Despite my request to escalate my complaint to a supervisor after months and months of contacting them, the same support person refuses to escalate my complaint and initially wanted me to send my unit thousands of miles, just to be checked; when we had a Dewalt service and repair a few miles away. The trimmer has been in for repair for three months with no completing date in sight and Dewalt won’t respond to any of my emails other than a generic; “Your request (11776241) has been received and is being reviewed by our support staff.” And then you hear nothing from them. Again, I loved Dewalt and have a lot of Dewalt tools and storage units, but their support is nonexistent and they will not help their customers when their faulty products fail. No loyalty for loyal customers. If you buy this trimmer you better hope it fails within the first 90 days, because their 1 year repair and parts, and 3 year warranty is useless. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM!!!! ... show more

  • Dewalt weedeater review.
Delivered ahead of schedule and it works very well. I used it trimming my yard , battery run time was good. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a weedeater. I like it better than the gasoline weedeater I had.
