  • Great CD drive for the $
Great quality, easy to install, and my Wii reads games again!

  • Good Replacement Drive
My Wii was making a weird noise from the disc drive and stop reading discs. I wanted a high quality replacement so I bought this “new” drive from iFixit. It doesn’t seem newly manufactured to me, but I am not sure—may be it is refurbished? It is more expensive than other options. Install went well. I turned on system and no more weird noise. I tested with Metroid Prime Trilogy, Smash Bros Brawl, and Gamecube game Paper Mario 2. Worked flawlessly with all 3 sounding good and spinning the discs as expected. I hope it lasts for years, only time will tell. ... show more

  • This disc drive works great for the first generation of Wii.
Fairly easy to install and does work. At first I was worried because I have one of the first Wii's ever made and very few other sellers have disc drives that work for this model. This drive works great.

  • Easy Replacement Job
Bought this particular Wii DVD drive for two reasons: (1) I’ve purchased from iFixit before and never been disappointed, and (2) online guidance said that if I wanted an exact replacement for my first run Wii drive, I should purchase one with the larger controller board on it. This was a little pricier than the competition, but I’m very happy with the purchase. Install was straight forward (though the Y screws are a pain to deal with - especially the pair connecting the front bezel). Wii works like new. ... show more

  • Got my Wii reading disks again
I had an old Wii that was no longer reading disks. After attempting to clean the lens I settled on replacing the drive. SO GLAD that I did. The drive showed up a few days before the estimated delivery window, and was packaged securely. After putting the drive in, and plugging it all up it immediately read disks again and we are back to playing our favorite Wii games. Some notes if you are considering doing this yourself: - Be aware that the tools/screwdrivers needed to do so do not come with this purchase. - iFixit has a great step by step guide for taking the Wii apart to service the disk drive. - There are a few small screws in the replacement process to keep track of so be sure to have a system for keeping track of those. ... show more

  • DVD fits right in and repaired Wii that refused to read discs
It's the correct part, fits right in, repair done.

  • Disc drive reads discs!
The drive was very easy to replace. And as we found out, it reads both GameCube and Wii games. Unfortunately some of our discs could be read because of heavy scratches. We did have to request for a new one because the first one we were sent was used. (Balls of dust in the gears causing it to find) We were sent a new one and works great so far. ... show more

  • Easy replacement that works great.
Easy to replace, and works great. My GameCube games were no longer playing, and only two of my Wii discs would play (and then only sporadically). After watching a brief video, this was one of the most straightforward replacements I've done. Very easy, as long as you have all the right tools together. Make sure you have a long length "Y" head screwdriver, though. There are two screws that are very deep set, and hard to get to with a standard screwdriver bit. You are going to appreciate the extra length for those two. I do recommend watching a video, though, because there are some tricky, hidden screws on the Wii. ... show more
