Bought this particular Wii DVD drive for two reasons: (1) I’ve purchased from iFixit before and never been disappointed, and (2) online guidance said that if I wanted an exact replacement for my first run Wii drive, I should purchase one with the larger controller board on it.     • Disc drive reads discs!
The drive was very easy to replace. And as we found out, it reads both GameCube and Wii games. Unfortunately some of our discs could be read because of heavy scratches. We did have to request for a new one because the first one we were sent was used. (Balls of dust in the gears causing it to find) We were sent a new one and works great so far. ... show more

The disc is great itself to replace an old one that doesn’t work anymore but it’s very loud when loading and spinning the disc compared to the original. Also, sometimes the game disc doesn’t load properly and an error message comes up

Works great, I did have an issue with the first drive that was sent, but as always, iFixit is always excellent with customer service and got it replaced for me in no time. The second one works great and does read wii and gamecube discs as intended.
