I ordered this brake kit to fix a low-speed brake squeal that resulted from a prior brake pad replacement without replacing the rotors. The cost of this kit includes both front and rear brake pads and rotors and they also throw in a container of DOT3 brake fluid, a can of brake parts cleaner spray, and a couple of packets of anti-seize grease for places that the brake pad ears slide in the retaining clips. These are heavy duty disc brake rotors and pads cost me a fraction of what my local auto parts store listed them for. Installation was fairly easy, despite NO INSTRUCTIONS included with the kit. I watched a couple of installation videos on YouTube and gained enough confidence to do the job. A couple of things that I had not expected: the boxes containing the rotors and pads are not marked to tell you which axle they go on. With my Ford Expedition, there's a set of rear drum brakes for the emergency brake and the correct rotor needs to be able to fit over the drums. You can either slide the rotor over the lugs on the rear axle after removing the old rotor to see if it fits, or just pick up the rotors: the front rotors are much heavier than the rear rotors and this makes sense since the rear rotors have the extra metal removed so they fit over the emergency drum brakes. The other unexpected problem I encountered was the old rotors were seized or rusted onto the rotating hub that contains the lug bolts. I had to beat the inner surface of the old rotor with a 4# sledge hammer to break it loose and remove the old rotor and it took a lot more force and hits with the hammer than I would have thought, but that's not an issue with the Detroit Axle kit. The kit comes with two identical slips of paper with printed instructions for bedding the brakes after installation. I followed the instructions the best I could -- the neighbors looked at me oddly when I accelerated down the street, only to ALMOST stop, then repeat a few more times. After bedding the brakes, the squeal is gone and the brakes work great. I would recommend this kit to anyone that has a bit of mechanical ability or a DIY attitude as well as the required tools, including various sockets, hex wrenches, floor / hydraulic jack and jack stand. ... show more

Very great product I love it stopping power, is way better than OEM, the look is great I have to go on a very quiet road to bed them in, no warping yet at least and replacement was a long process because my old rotors that was on my car pretty much seized up and it was hard to get off, had kick it so many times, so I made sure to apply some anti-seize and stuff to this one because I don't want that happening again. all the accessories are there, comes with a brake cleaner, I don't use Dot 3 so I didn't use that and you have to make sure you guys buy your brake sensors separately. I had doubts about buying these brakes and accessories due to mixed reviews, both positive and negative. Due to price, I ordered brake pads, shoes, rotors, and drums in a kit. Everything looked great when I opened the box, except for the pack of four brake pads. Clearly, someone had already opened the blister pack. I quickly saw why. One of the ceramic pads was cracked front to back. Why would they repack and resell a returned item to another customer is beyond my understanding. The customer service number on Amazon's page was disconnected. If it were not for the correct number on the box, I would have been frustrated. I called, and the guy was nice, and they shipped me replacement pads within several days. All items fit well and were high-quality, except for the stainless-steel clip bag. They were so far from fitting that it was mind-boggling. I had to reuse the old ones and throw the whole bag away. I can't understand how it got so far off in manufacturing. The brake kit is helpful having everything at once without searching! The vehicle itself is a 2013 Ford flex limited Heavy Duty brakes. This is important for the next person. Check the backs of all the rotors before installing anything one rotor in the pictures above has a pretty large ugly mark from casting I’d assume. This seems to still be solid and on the rear of the vehicle so I’m using it however this can’t be balanced at all it’s rough and pretty thick in that area I needed the part unfortunately so I moved forward with the job this can and probably will kill my wheel bearing and could cause vibration if it’s not balanced kinda a let down on that one part as well as the rear rotors needing the hole for the T40 bolt drilled out because it wasn’t large enough to fit the T40 bolt in to mount the rotors on the hub in the rear, brake rotors have some issues in this kit definitely check everything over better then I did. If the rear didn’t have the above issues this kit would be an absolute 5 stars all day, the front rotors and parts are great the rear rotors are the pitfall. I’ll give them credit for having the part number end with the side it’s going on, you can find this on the edge of the rotor so like “8008L or 8008R helps out with installing drilled and slotted rotors big props on that detail! ... show more
