Description

The Thermacell Lookout Mosquito Repellent Camp Lantern repels bothersome mosquitoes, allowing any outdoor gathering or experience to be more enjoyable. This item was recommended to me by my son-in-law. I was skeptical because I usually use the citronella candles, but I purchased this to try it out. I am a mosquito attraction! I am also allergic to their bites and they itch horribly, swell up then stay for days. I read the directions and set it up 15 minutes before I actually went out to enjoy my patio. It works!! Not one bite. The only negative thing is; when you click the start the *orange glow" is not very visible in lighted areas. I wasn't really sure it was lighted untill I felt the warmth from the top. I would definitely recommend this item for keeping an area free from mosquitoes. Oh! Let's not forget that this is also a very bright lantern that can be on with or without the repellent. There is no scent unless you get very close. This lantern can be placed on a picnic table or hung above the table with the attached handle. Have 2 of these and they work great while camping to keep the bugs away. Refills are a little pricey, but if you wait for a sale and buy in bulk you can save some money.

    • Smaller than I thought, less bright
I have had an army green colored version of this for years. The lights finally stopped working and the heated plate had enough sticky residue that I decided to replace, as the pads work great for keeping the bugs away. Unfortunately, they downsized the original, including the light put out. Still functions great as a bug deterrent. Just wished it were more like the old version, as this seems about 2/3 the size and half as bright. ... show more

I was skeptical but it seemed like it actually worked. I got the butane version and we used it for a couple hours for two nights. Had to replace the pad after the first night but the butane was still going after the second night. We could see mosquitoes flying around but not close to us. And my wife is usually a mosquito magnet. I will add that I don't think this will work if there is a breeze or wind. We had basically no wind in the woods so it was perfect. ... show more

Repels mosquitoes well used as description. Nice look and no odor. Used on patio with 8 individuals present. L12 hours isn't much time per ampule. Have used this brand before so I knew it would work. Have not tried the light.

This is the third review I have written for this item. Started with 5 stars. A couple days later I dropped it to 4 when it quit working. I then sike to a very nice lady from the manufacturer. Sent sent me a replacement. It was a cheaper model, but it worked for about 10 days. Now will not. I don't care about a refund. It gave me much more pleasure to stomp on it then fling it as far as I could!!! ... show more

Good LED camp lantern. Is a good repellent for mosquitoes and works sometimes for flies and gnats, but doesn't seem to have any effect on wasps, and the others that are in that family. Very easy to use and found it to be sturdy and dependable enough to buy another one. Really a necessity for camping near the water. ... show more

We tried one out at Hunting Island State Park Campground in SC. It’s a beach campground and was breezy. We tried placing in upwind from our tables and it worked well. Played cards at a picnic table and placed it on top to use the lamp for board games. Lamp brightness is adjustable and works well. After a few minutes of game play we noticed mosquitoes around our feet. We got another lateen for light and put the thermocell under the table.
