When I got these I figured it would help a little cause of all the extra weight on my Jeep. Bumpers, sidesteps, and racks all add up. When I did the break in I was a little worried. I was mashing down on the pedal just to slow down. After each pass it got more and more responsive. I finally did a longer drive and let them cool down. Smelled like burnt metal when I got home. Next morning I decided to break them in again and this time I was slowing down just barely touching the pedal. Now it’s like I stop 10 feet back from where I would normally and I am just pushing the pedal half way. They are very quiet and I haven’t noticed any more dust than normal pads. I don’t tow anything so this was more of a make sure I can stop upgrade just with a few hundred pounds extra sitting in the frame. For the price they are worth it. ... show more

Easy to install if you have some mechanical ability and knowledge. Take some time to gather all the tools and supplies before starting. Don’t cut corners, you’ll make your life difficult and you may not get the professional results that this kit makes possible. Purchased these brakes after I got just over 50K miles off my factory brakes. I have a lifted Jeep with 35" tires that I occasionally pull a light trailer with. Installation was easy after watching several videos online - there was no documentation or instructions in the brake kit that I received. My only complaints are that the small, black rubber boots that are used to cover the slide pins were not included in the front set or pads and the lithium grease they provide was not enough to adequately cover the areas needed in my opinion. Break-in period was relatively simple and easy to follow, again watching a video online (no included instructions) but it was a little difficult to find a safe area to perform the break-in stops around my house. There was a heavy odor and squealing from the brakes during the break-in period, both of which were stated would happen while watching the videos. On a few occasions since install, I have had to brake hard, which I received very good performance from these brakes, but I would hear a slight grinding sounds for a few miles after that hard braking session, from what I understand to be the pad material rubbing off the disk. After a few miles, the sound goes away and there is no noise coming from the brakes. Longevity is yet to be seen. As I stated, I received 50K miles out of my factory brakes, with about 30K of that with the upgraded suspension and larger tires. If I can get 30-40K miles out these brakes, I would say they are going to be a great value since the cost of having my brakes done at the dealership, turning my rotors (not new ones) was almost $600 and just buying the OEM parts, with new rotors, and doing the work myself was about $20-$30 more than buying this kit. ... show more

Very happy with this purchase! Did the entire swap myself as I do most of my work on my Jeep if I can. Most important part is to not look at the review that was left from the guy who spelled "brakes as breaks" as he probably shouldn't have been working on his jeep in the first place. As long as you follow proper procedure and TORQUE specs for all bolts, you can rest easy that this brake kit will not only work correctly, but out perform your current OEM brakes. Yeah, they are only OEM calipers that have been power coated, but they did a very nice job rebuilding them and coating them. Their pads are EXCELLENT. And the rotors are very high quality!!! After installing and bleeding the entire brake system several times (i was flushing out all the old fluid) and then following the popper bedding procedure as listed on powerstop's website, coupled with a days worth of daily driving, these brakes really came to life and surprised me. Best stopping power I have had on my 2013 JKU since I got it off the lot. I run 20" wheels with 35" tires for those who want to know. I would 100% recommend this product and would easily say that it is of the same quality as the higher priced OEM sized options out there. ... show more

Other than being clean it doesn't look impressive, like it'll do more than OEM, but it already rides better so I guess that's a win. We will see next time I need to hard brake.
