I ordered this brake kit to fix a low-speed brake squeal that resulted from a prior brake pad replacement without replacing the rotors. The cost of this kit includes both front and rear brake pads and rotors and they also throw in a container of DOT3 brake fluid, a can of brake parts cleaner spray, and a couple of packets of anti-seize grease for places that the brake pad ears slide in the retaining clips. These are heavy duty disc brake rotors and pads cost me a fraction of what my local auto parts store listed them for. Installation was fairly easy, despite NO INSTRUCTIONS included with the kit. I watched a couple of installation videos on YouTube and gained enough confidence to do the job. A couple of things that I had not expected: the boxes containing the rotors and pads are not marked to tell you which axle they go on. With my Ford Expedition, there's a set of rear drum brakes for the emergency brake and the correct rotor needs to be able to fit over the drums. You can either slide the rotor over the lugs on the rear axle after removing the old rotor to see if it fits, or just pick up the rotors: the front rotors are much heavier than the rear rotors and this makes sense since the rear rotors have the extra metal removed so they fit over the emergency drum brakes. The other unexpected problem I encountered was the old rotors were seized or rusted onto the rotating hub that contains the lug bolts. I had to beat the inner surface of the old rotor with a 4# sledge hammer to break it loose and remove the old rotor and it took a lot more force and hits with the hammer than I would have thought, but that's not an issue with the Detroit Axle kit. The kit comes with two identical slips of paper with printed instructions for bedding the brakes after installation. I followed the instructions the best I could -- the neighbors looked at me oddly when I accelerated down the street, only to ALMOST stop, then repeat a few more times. After bedding the brakes, the squeal is gone and the brakes work great. I would recommend this kit to anyone that has a bit of mechanical ability or a DIY attitude as well as the required tools, including various sockets, hex wrenches, floor / hydraulic jack and jack stand. ... show more

I had doubts about buying these brakes and accessories due to mixed reviews, both positive and negative. Due to price, I ordered brake pads, shoes, rotors, and drums in a kit. Everything looked great when I opened the box, except for the pack of four brake pads. Clearly, someone had already opened the blister pack. I quickly saw why. One of the ceramic pads was cracked front to back. Why would they repack and resell a returned item to another customer is beyond my understanding. The customer service number on Amazon's page was disconnected. If it were not for the correct number on the box, I would have been frustrated. I called, and the guy was nice, and they shipped me replacement pads within several days. All items fit well and were high-quality, except for the stainless-steel clip bag. They were so far from fitting that it was mind-boggling. I had to reuse the old ones and throw the whole bag away. I can't understand how it got so far off in manufacturing. I ordered these for my 2017 F150. The kit comes with slotted rotors - front & back and ceramic pads for both, new clips, and there is also a can of brake cleaner and brake fluid included. I didn't have any problem at all installing although I read several reviews that said they had problems with the clips fitting. Just be sure you pay careful attention to the way that the clips are installed. I suggest you take a picture of the old clips in place for reference before you take them off. It took me a minute but I finally got it right and every thing went in place like a glove!! Also - make sure you look at You Tube as a reference - this has always been helpful for me!! Cost me a little over 300 bucks for new brakes all the way around. I just don't think you can beat that price anywhere and the quality is fantastic!! Update 2/13/26 5 months in! Had an issue with this product. Driving home from work, I noticed a grinding noise - hmmmmmmmmmm. Turns out that one of the pads on the passenger out side was ground completely down. Weird - just 1 pad and the opposite pad was fine. After buying new pads and comparing the old ones to the new ones, I believe there is and inside pad and an outside one, at least that was what was indicated on the new ones. This to me was what likely created the issue. The old pads(Detroit Axle) had no such designation. It has to do with the placement of the rivets. Make sure when you install the new pads, that you make note of the current configuration and apply the new ones exactly like the old ones. Also - I found out that slotted rotors can not be turned, so if you are like me and you want to get the most you can for your dollar, buy the ones without slots! One other issue - these brakes squeak. They just started and I'm about 5 months in. I noticed that my pops truck does the same thing - he has the same rotors as I do. Still think these are a good product and I would buy them again. For the most part, this package has been beneficial for me and I don't think you will find a better deal anywhere else! My new pads were 85 bucks locally - not cheap!! Good luck! ... show more
