This fixture uses 2 regular type A19 base bulbs. Nothing about the fixture controls the ability to dim. The bulbs selected (Incandescent, CFL or LED ) allow or disallow dimming. Bulbs not included This was one of the hardest fixtures I have ever installed simply because I tried using the included fixture bracket. This bracket SHOULD NOT BE USED with (many older) 3" Plastic boxes The fixtures screws run into the boxes screw boss and do not allow them to be tightened securely. . I bought these lights to replace a set of older looking white lights in my upstairs hallway. I installed both lights in about 20 minutes. They look great and really updated the appearance of my hallway. Overall their value, appearance and ease of installation are 5 stars!

    • Looks Good and Reasonably Priced
I purchased this 2 pack of ceiling lights to install in our house for $27.95. I was a little skeptical about the quality when I ordered them due to the low price, but was willing to give them a try. The installation instructions are pretty generic, and I mostly relief on my knowledge of how to install similar lights. The first one took me about 15 minutes to complete, and I had to remove the light once because it didn't seat flush against the ceiling (that was because I hadn't positioned it correctly). Once it was positioned correctly, it fit flush against the ceiling. The second light only took me about 5 mintues to install, mostly becuase I had jsut completed the other installation. I feel like most homeowners could easily install the lights. Pros: * Very economically priced * The are lightweight * Ease of installation * Look really nice, especially the glass dome * Well packaged Cons: * There are no pre-cut holes in the insulation for the retainer screws to fit through. It didn't take much to push the screws through the insulation and get it mounted, but it would have been nice to have holes already there. For the price, I expected the alabaster to be plastic but it is some kind of glassy stuff. The description is very misleading because this is simply a fixture, it’s not a dimmer, nor is it LED, as you have to provide your own bulbs. But this was really what I wanted, because I have been disappointed with the fixtures that have the LEDs integrated. Even though LEDs are supposed to last forever, there are plenty of other connections and electronics in a fixture that can go bad, and have, making the whole fixture worthless. With these, you can get any bulb you want, and put them in, and whenever, replace them! ... show more

    • Bendable, fiberglass loose, difficult to install.
The fixture bends when being mounted. Fiberglass layer does not stay in place with the fixture. The foil wrap layer is on top of the fiberglass instead of on the side where the bulb sockets are. Overall, this is not only a cheaply made item, installation was too difficult and I ended up getting a similar fixture set from my local hardware store for the same price and with that one, the fiberglass Layer stayed in position with the back of the fixture and the foil wrap on the bulb socket side.     • Not a quick installation
I got four of these for our new apartment. Installing the first one was VERY difficult. The screw that came with the light were not long enough to thread through everything but we found an alternative way and it worked. The brightness depends on the light bulbs you use. The second one was extremely difficult to install and one of the screws caused sparks to fly. In the end, I will have to return them as they are not easy to install at all. ... show more

    • Difficulty lining up screws with electrical box
I like this style of ceiling light and I have them in several other rooms at our house. However the one drawback for me is getting the screws to line up with the electrical box. It could be me,or our electrical box. But in any event it's something to be aware of. But it doesn't deter from the usefulness of the light or it's value. ... show more
