I purchased this MADE IN CHINA item based on the DESCRIPTION as listed on Amazon. It SPECIFICALLY states ( in numerous places) that this fixture is SOLID BRASS. This is ABSOLUTELY FALSE !! The BOX it comes in clearly states on all 4 sides --- SOLID BRASS FINISH WITH CLEAR BEVELED GLASS. NO MENTION OF A LACQUER COATING EITHER. The actual fixture is manufactured using thin steel then COATED in a SOLID BRASS FINISH. Mine already snows signs of discoloration on the inside so It must NOT come with any protective coating. See photos. Be sure to look under the inside flaps for the rest of the decorative top parts and a couple long screws before you throw out the box !!! No styrofoam protection inside the box to prevent glass or metal damage..........so if the box is beat up on delivery, I wouldn't accept it. Since fixture DOES NOT come with any kind of protective exterior coating, if you scratch it during installation, you're going to be in trouble down the road. I recommend putting some Painters tape over it for protection. SO BUYER BEWARE....... It's a pretty light, but I don't know that it would stand up to DIRECT exposure to the elements. Time will tell. So the light is just OK at this price point, but don't expect anything more.......thus the 3 stars. ... show more

These look nice on our house, though if I were to do it again I probably would have gotten something a little bigger. I bought the smart LED bulbs for these that turn on at night and off at dawn. Set it and forget it.
