  • Great value, works well and is very quiet
Size: 12,000 BTU - 115V / 19 SEER
I bought this mini-split unit because it is one of the few that I could install myself. Although it requires having a vacuum pump and a vacuum gauge set the investment in tools is minimal compared to the cost of having a unit like this professionally installed. Please note: the unit itself is very straightforward as far as connecting the inside and outside units together and charging the system HOWEVER there is a significant amount of additional work that needs to happen to actually get the unit fully installed on your house. This additional work may include running new electrical branch circuits through your house, opening up walls with all of the associated drywall, stucco or siding repair, possible concrete work, possible plumbing work, finishing work to cover the refrigeration pipes, etc. Just be certain that you know what you are getting into before starting this project. That said, I did install the unit myself, it turned out great and I am very happy with it but it was considerably more work than I had anticipated. The unit itself is fantastic! It cools my 12' x12' bedroom down in minutes and has enough additional cooling capacity to keep my entire house cool on a 100 degree day just by placing a small fan at the door of the bedroom that blows the cold air to the rest of the house. At night it keeps the bedroom cool while making hardly any noise. The noise that it does make is a quiet ssshhhhhhh sound that is about as loud as a whisper and it works perfectly as a white noise generator. The outside unit is also very quiet. When I first turned it on I didn't even realize it was running. I chose to wall mount the outside unit on brackets as opposed to bolting it to a concrete slab but I imagine it would be even quieter if it was slab mounted. If you wall mount it you will need to purchase brackets separately. There are specially designed brackets specifically for mini-splits and they are relatively inexpensive. So far my only complaints about the unit itself is the lack of adequate protection for the refrigerant lines. The tape wrap that comes with the kit is woefully inadequate in my opinion and I ran out of the tape with several feet left to go. Even with the tape the lines appear unfinished and are poorly protected from the elements. To address the issue I bought a mini-split duct kit to cover the lines which resulted in a well protected, professional looking final installation (see picture). Consider this step an absolute necessity. I decided not to bother installing the wifi control app on my phone. Based on what I could see the only additional advantage of the app is being able to set schedule times which is a feature that I don't use. Considering the immense value for this mini-split unit I would absolutely recommend it as long as you are an advanced level DIY'er. If you are not comfortable dealing with electrical installations and the National Electrical Code and if cutting a big hole through your wall scares you then I might suggest finding a different solution to your cooling situation. ... show more

  • Good Mini Split Air Conditioner
Size: 12,000 BTU - 230V / 19 SEER
After going years without air conditioning in a converted attic bedroom, I decided to have a system installed, but after getting quotes of many thousands of dollars for a small room, I decided to look into DYI units. I searched all over the internet and my town for a unit that had a combination of ease of installation, good user experience, and most importantly, price! After I found the DELLA 12000 BTU Mini Split Air Conditioner & Heater Ductless Inverter System, 19 SEER2 208-230-Volt system at such a low price, I was at first skeptical that it could be any good. But because my pockets were a little light I decided to take a chance. I'm glad that I took that chance because after getting it installed it has operated beyond my expectations. It cools the room way better than any previous air conditioners, plus it has a heat option. Also compared to the other units my electric bill is lower. I installed the unit myself and it was easy even though I have never done this before. I did have a small problem with the torque specifications listed in the installation manual, Do Not Use The Foot Lb specification listed in the book, use the Newton meter specification. For some reason the Ft Lb specifications are wrong. If you use these you will crack the flare nuts and the unit will leak. Overall I feel that this is a good product, as for how long it will last, only time will tell. I will update if I have any problems. ... show more

  • Not for all DIY's
This product is a challenging installation. I suspect pro HVAC techs are overwhelmed with calls for DIY failure. I was successful and the minisplit cools perfectly. It will be a couple months before I can test heat in my area. The outside unit is so quiet I had to put my hand on the case to tell if it was running. I had a problem with the optical remote control. I contacted Della and they responded to my email on a Sunday night on Labor Day weekend. Who does that? A new remote was sent out very quickly and everything works excellent. If you are an experienced DIYer and you want to try install........I suggest getting a bottle of nitrogen and pressure testing the piping before releasing refrigerant. I think leak testing with refrigerant is a hack, get some nitrogen. its dry and good for the pipes ... show more

  • Love it - easy to install
Size: 9,000 BTU - 115V / 19 SEER
Our home office is too far from our AC system so it’s always too hot or too cold. This 9000 BTU system did the trick. Love it! Install went easy after watching a couple of YouTube installs of mini splits. I did purchase a vacuum pump and gauges and the decorative drainpipe. Plus the outside disconnect as per code. Looks good. Works well. Including the phone app. The only thing that would be an extra plus is if the unit would heat or cool to the desired temp and then turn the fan off. Like a normal house HVAC will do it. This unit's fan never stops running while it's turned on. But a small point. This has made a huge difference for the utility of our office. ... show more

  • Love It - glad I have a/c in my Woodshop
Size: 18,000 BTU - 230V / 19 SEER
I was tired of my Woodshop power tools rusting, the wood constantly moving from unstable Temperatures/humidities, and of course being uncomfortable covered in sweat and sawdust. I had a gas heater in the garage that did not work so I figured why not make it more comfortable in the summer time and fix my winter time issue. This unit was very easy to install. Honestly, it was more of a pain for me to run the 220v wire to the disconnect than it was for me to actually install the unit. I had to buy some specialty tools for the install but it was well worth the price over paying a pro. Install went very smooth and the unit has been in for about a month. Wood in the shop is stable, and sometimes I even need a hoodie inside. Much more comfortable. It doesn't matter to me because I'm constantly using very loud tools in my shop, but the unit is very quiet. Both inside and outside. If you couldn't see the fan moving outside, you wouldn't even know that it is on! Indoor unit is quiet as well, just a light fan noise. Been enjoying the unit so far! Hopefully I get years of use out of it! Price tag is phenomenal! ... show more
