    • Speedy performance, high quality materials but 2TB storage spec is misleading
processor_description: Core i9-14900K memory_size: 32 GB Style: RTX 4070
Received the XPS 8960 with the RTX 4070 graphics card just a couple of days ago which I purchased for running primarily Lightroom and Photoshop. The quality of the materials is high, the chassis is easy to open for upgrades, I'm finding the fan noise to be minimal, and the machines are shipping with the BIOS update required to address the Intel I9 processor issue that others have reported. The Lightroom performance has been very impressive with large RAW images loading near instantaneously. So far, so good. My one issue is that the writeup on Amazon's website led me to believe that the box shipped with a single 2TB m.2 SSD leaving a space for a second SSD HOWEVER that is not the case. This system actually ships with two 1 TB m.2 drives limiting my storage upgrade options. (There is an open SATA 3.5" bay that could be used for another drive.) ... show more

    • Poorly packaged, intentionally bad cable management
processor_description: Core i9-14900K memory_size: 32 GB Style: RTX 4070
Overall the computer itself is OK, though it is a miracle it survived the trip. It was not packed very well by Amazon, the carton containing the computer was just sliding around inside a bigger carton. Another interesting thing was that when I turned it on, it sounded like a lawnmower! After opening it up and investigating, it turns out that someone had intentionally pushed one of the ziptie holders into the PSU mesh, so it rested against the fan. Now that was a very tight fit and it took some effort to pull it out again. So someone had to intentionally do that when putting it together. It did not "slip in" on its own. I won't buy a Dell again knowing they have people in their production line actively trying to sabotage their own computers. ... show more
