I got him this as a starter computer for him to see how responsible he would be in caring for it before I invest in a high tech one in the future but to my surprise the lights and monitor turn on and he plays Roblox on it and downloaded discord. At times it can lag and then it works really fast. Just don't download too many things at once. All in all he is pleased. Also works great to search up things on Amazon, Google and any sites. Let me start by saying, I rarely write reviews. However, given my experience with Refurbchoice I'm compelled to do so. On October 4, 2023 I purchased a "Renewed" Dell OptiPlex 5050 from Refurbchoice through Amazon. Upon delivery I immediately noted that the monitor (while brand new) was not working properly. I called Refurbchoice, left a message, and fairly promptly thereafter received a return call. I spoke with one of their techs and the long and the short of that problem was they sent me a new monitor. Within the next 45 days the computer started to develop various operating system issues. It would sometimes not take the password; it would sometimes not load to the Windows desktop; and sometimes when it would attempt to load Windows the screen would start to continuously blink. On each of those occasions I called Refurbchoice and left a message and NEVER received a return call. Up until this past weekend (June 2, 2024), I was able to resolve the issues by spending a lot of my own time researching on line and watching YouTube videos. It usually involved booting to Safemode finding a Restore Point and/or deleting recent Microsoft Window updates. The computer worked thereafter (temporarily) although always received a ".wku" error message on startup. It happened again this weekend - continuous blinking screen on attempted loading Windows to the desktop. Given my frustration at the continuing time I have had to spend "repairing" the computer I called Refurbchoice at 9:05am on 6/3/2024; 9:30am on 6/3/2024; 4:51pm on 6/3/2024; 2:07pm on 6/4/2024; 3:40pm on 6/5/2024; and 9:14am on 6/6/2024. On each call after being on a short hold I was prompted to leave a message. I also sent an email to the tech I had spoken with back in October on 6/4/2024 at 3:37pm. (ALL TIMES ARE EST). NOT A SINGLE REPLY OR RETURN CALL. I also called Amazon several times on this matter. They apparently reached out to Refurbchoice to no avail. Amazon was only able to help by giving me a $50 gift card credit. Other than that I was told they could not help. I started this by saying I never write reviews. Sure, there are varying degrees of customer service but with Refurbchoice (except for the initial screen issue upon delivery) I have experienced silence. This computer was an absolute waste of money - I guess I should have known that by it being "Renewed" but I had assumed there would be a seller who would either stand behind what they sell or at least return calls and provide some level of customer service. ... show more

got the computer packaged very well. I only had trouble with the keyboard and mouse. They were a pain never got them to work good thing I had my old ones. every once in a while the computer just shuts off, there is no warning. It displays lost communication. Now a review it has worked failey well now being August a year later. Now all of a sudden my computer does nothing except flast MTG over and over again. Will not connect ar display anything. What a piece of junk. I did try to get a hold of tech support. He told me sounds like a hard drive issue . I feel like I got scammed. ... show more

This was so easy to set up and it responds quickly. I had to replace a 2007 Dell desk top and was hesitant to go for a refurbished one., This has been an affordable and easy to use desk top. I had one issue with getting the mouse to work (my fault). I wrote to Amazon and the reply came within hours of what I had failed to do. I corrected my error and voila the mouse was working perfectly., I would buy this again and urge you to give it a try. ! I can't answer about the gaming as I do not use it for that ... show more

when received, we tried to insert a software disk and discovered an old piece of gum stuck In the disk drive. It actually hardened on the microchips in the disk drive and broke off a piece inside and now the disk will not spin or function. Everything else works fine, hope nobody else has gum stuck in their desktop. ... show more
