  • Nice replacement!
Style: 512GB SSD
Updated laptop for grandparents. Nice size, nice display, much better for email and internet browsing than 12 year old computer they were using. Seems like it will fit their need well.

  • Holy moly this is a lot of laptop for the price.
Style: 512GB SSD
I wasn't really sure what to expect when I ordered this. It cost about the same as my HP laptop a couple years ago and had similar on-paper specs for the time (5500u vs 7530u, 1080p, white backlit keyboard, $550-$570 each, etc). However this Dell laptop (silver 7530u version) is so much better quality it's crazy. The lid and the keyboard deck of the Dell laptop are both aluminum. On the HP they were plastic and the keyboard deck flexed. Here they are solid aluminum with far less flex. The speakers are great. They're top-firing and on both sides of the keyboard, and actually sound good. The HP speakers were bottom-firing and vibrated. The trackpad is very large and responsive, and the keyboard is white backlit (on the silver 7530u version). In addition you get a fingerprint reader, which was not present on the HP and I did not expect it at this price. The screen is definitely either VA or IPS, but it's hard to say which. Viewing angles are good, contrast ratio is very good, and it has minimal/no backlight bleed. Saturation and accuracy is not bad, could be better, but ofc is still far better than any TN panel. The contrast ratio is really exceptional for this price. Dark areas look dark and bright areas are bright. Obviously with an APU you don't expect stellar modern game performance, but this holds up for my purposes (playing The Elder Scrolls Oblivion from 2006 at maximum settings around 60 fps). Even though Oblivion is very old at this point, remember this is not a gaming laptop. This is a thin-and-light notebook and the ability to play older games like that fluidly is a nice bonus. Downside: Dell ships it with a bunch of bloatware. But the good news is you're allowed to uninstall all the Dell-branded bloatware from the control panel without requiring any special tricks or workarounds. I'm very pleased with this laptop. Now the only thing to test is the durability/reliability, but of course I won't know that for several months or years. ... show more

  • I love my laptop.
Style: 512GB SSD
It’s a great size for any college student or working purposes. Battery life lasts longer than expected and Windows 11 is accepted. It doesn’t lag and although it’s huge and heavy it works great.

  • Dell Inspiron 5635 Laptop - 16.0-inch
Style: 512GB SSD
Only a week after receiving and setting up, I am very impressed with this 5635 laptop so far. I was woefully past due in upgrading my old 17" Dell Inspiron (it faithfully got me through 7 years of personal use including grad school) and found a great deal I couldn't pass up. The 5635 was an easy-to-set-up plug-and-play, and transferring the data from the old laptop took no time at all. It's light with a nice keyboard layout. I find the screen and graphics to be crisp with good sound. Great camera for WebEx. Took some time to find my way around Windows 11 and I had a transferrable MS 365 / Office I could use beyond the trial. Would highly recommend as you can upgrade the components you need to with little fanfare. ... show more

  • Way to produce e-waste in mass quantity, Dell
Style: 4GB RAM | 16GB
I've had Dell products in the past. They weren't always the best but they were almost always far from the worst. That is until now. This is quite possibly, hands down the most blatant piece of trash I've ever had the displeasure of purchasing from anyone, let alone from Dell. I figured, 16GB of storage should be fine. What isn't made clear is that it is 16GB TOTAL. After the 12-14GB used by the OS and other "basic" essentials, you have room to install 1 maybe 3 apps and then begins the "Clear up some free space" mini-game that comes pre-loaded. What's worse is that it's eMMC storage so a simple upgrade to say 32GB is out of the question. Granted, I wasn't expecting top of the line for the price, but seriously... with Dell's practical ownership of SK Hynix, how hard would it have been to solder on a simple m.2 slot and toss one of those el cheapo m.2 drives in there like Dell does with practically all their other products? At least give the end user an upgrade path however minimal. No. We're going to hardware lock you with the cheapest possible components that probably cost all of $20 to make, rake in 88-120% profit for something that will, in most cases, find its way to a landfill and in the best scenarios find its way to a stack of other e-waste destined to just be stripped, melted or otherwise dismantled for raw materials to build more crap. Save everyone the headache and just send these straight to the e-waste stack, Dell. Buying this thing is like taking a flyer from some rando on the street trying to get you to come see their band. With this Chromebook, Dell is basically charging you money and saying, "Here. You throw this away. Thanks." ... show more
