*Update - To much of my surprise the manufacturer was very fast at reaching out and offering a replacement. Replacement heater arrived within a few days. Much faster than I ever expected. New heater seems to be working well and haven’t had any issues with the replacement one so far. I’m guessing it was just bad luck with a defect on the first one. I love the size of this heater. I’m setting up my 10 gal tank so I don’t have much space and the size helps a lot. My water was like 60* when I put the heater in. In no time the water was at 75*.

I have two 5 gallon Betta tanks and one heater works great and keeps the temperature at a steady 80° but the other one is struggling to maintain 78°. I’ve had this for about one month and seems to work well. I place it next to the filter as it helps to circulate the temperature throughout the 5 gallon tank. No issues with suction so far. I try to keep the temperature specific to Bettas from around 76-78 degrees. I imagine temperature range is different for other fish types.
