My 30-year-old dehumidifier literally fell apart. Its plastic cover crumples. It was heavy and noisy. So I was in the market for a light and quiet replacement. The first new one I ordered from Amazon was a great disappointment. I had to send it back. It was underpowered, and its temperature and humidity meters gave incorrect readings. I then ordered by Whoy and discovered that it is: o Easy to set up and use o Its Amazon description is accurate o Its Instructions are readable in size and language o It is indeed Quiet o Yet it is capable. If you need faster dehumidification, it offers turbo mode. o It offers a 9-gallon bin for water. To my mind, that is too small. But it also provides drainage via a tube. I have placed it in a bathtub so it drains into the bath’s drain. o You can control it and see the current humidity and other settings through a standard web app (Smart Life) and on the machine itself. o You can also use its timer to select how long to run it. o I verified the accuracy of its humidity and temperature readings against those of another located in a distant room and found that they agreed with one another.

This dehumidifier works well and does a good job removing moisture from the air. It’s quiet and easy to use. The only downside is the low tank capacity, so it needs to be emptied more often. Other than that, it’s a good product and worth the price.

The app works very well, even though at times it varies from the display on the unit; but never more than 1%. I’m so impressed with this product I highly recommend it.

Perfect little dehumidifier for our 850 sqft basement family room. The WiFi is extremely helpful letting me know when the bucket is full or the temperature and humidity of the room. I can program it right from my phone or the panel. It ran every day this summer and fall. Most days there was a full bucket of water to discard. There is an option to discard water directly into a drain if you don’t want to worry about emptying buckets. It is simple to use, lightweight, well worth the money, and seems to be well made. I highly recommend it.

The noise level is very low. The water capacity is enough where you only have to empty the water basin once per day. Anything that has a larger basin starts to get heavy at 1.5 gallons. No leakage has happened in the 2 months that I have had it. I detected very little heat generation. I have not noticed a big power usage either. It is very easy to set up. The % humidity is pretty accurate when compared to my thermostat humidity screen. This dehumidifier is of very good quality as compared to the other that I sent back. I highly recommend this dehumidifier.

This is an early review with only one day of use. Summary... My local post office would not deliver it due to the size and weight of the box, so I had to pick it up. It was intact and functioning when I got it home and started it up. I am using this unit in a DRY basement photography studio with 2 insulated and painted drywalls, and 2 cement walls painted with brick and concrete sealing paint. The floors are sealed with porch and patio paint. The ceiling is open joists with fiberglass insulation. The area is 26x32 ft. (area = 832 ft.) with an 8 ft ceiling for a volume of 6,656 cu/ft. I owned a highly recomended Frigidaire FFAD5033W1. It worked great for 18 months. When it stopped working it produced an error code indicating that the coolant system was not working. Further investigation showed that this was NOT fixable. This Whoy unit is the replacement. Specifications... This is NOT a 100 pint unit, it is a 50 pint unit as printed on the box and in the owner's manual. The auto shut off only applies to when the tank is full, it does not shut off when the set % humidity is reached and therefore the fan runs continuously. It automatically goes into the Defrost mode (turning off the compressor) for 5 to 20 minutes depending on the actual temperature.when the ambient temperature is below 20c/68f. I do not use the hose so I will not comment of its functionallity. There are 3 user selectable "Modes" Normal, Automatic, and Turbo. Normal mode... allows the user to set the desired humidity level in 5% increments. The fan speed is set to high until the room humidity level is within 10% of the target setting. At that point the fan speed is reduced to low. The compressor will turn off once the target humidity level is reached. (So far that has not happened and the unit has been running for a full 36 hours.) Auto Mode... This sets the humidity to 55% which is NOT user changeable. When the room humidity is >/= to 70% the fan is set to high. When the room humidity is between 55 to 70% the fan is on low. When the room humidity is </= to 55% the compressor turns off. (So far the humidity has not reduded to 55%. Turbo Mode... This sets the humidity to 55% which is NOT user changeable. The fan speed remains on high. Humidity level is set in 5% intervals from 20% to 95% or as CO (Continuous Operation). In CO the compressor will continue to run regardless of humidity level. Evaluation... I am using an AcuRite Hygrometer to check the acuracy and performance. I also used this meter to check the Frigidaire which was capable of reducing and mainatining 45% RH. When I first turned on the Whoy the AcuRite meter read 58% while the Whoy read 63%. I set the Whoy to the Normal mode with a humidity setting of 45% because my target is 50% and the difference between the Whoy and AcuRite was 5%. The Whoy has been running for 36 hours and I have been checking it periodically (as I write this it reads 53%). The AcuRite and Whoy both measure between 50 and 53%, but have not reached the setting of 45%. At this point I do not think the Whoy is capable of achieving or maintaining the sub 50% humidity level the Frigidaire was able to maintain for 18 months. 10 days later... I have been recording measurements of temperature and humidity a few times daily. Here are my results. * Room temperature varies between 65 and 67 degrees. * The average difference between the Whoy and Accurite meters is 2% with the Accurite being lower. * The water tank was emptied 3 times, once when full and 2 times at 1/3 level. * The auto shutoff worked. * The amount of water collected over 10 days = 28.7 Pints @ 2.8 pints per day. * The settings I have settled on is Normal @ 45% RH. * The unit is incapable of achieving 45% but at this setting the average RH is 49 to 50% as measured by the Accurite meter. * The Whoy runs constantly and never shuts off the fan regardless of settings. It will only turn off if the unit is off.
