  • Very Nice Stove for price
Brief background: I've been around a long time. Much of that time I've heated with wood. I know what I'm talking of. Delivery was timely. Only hiccup was it was delivered to the local post office rather than my home address. I wish Amazon would tell us when we place an order how they intend to ship it. Not a product fault. As many have said this is not the typical thin sheet metal stove typical of this price range. It is made of heavy material and is shaped and welded rather than being screwed or riveted together. Neither of those methods will create a non smoking stove. There is simply too much heat. Assembly is simple and quick. 8 small bolts to attach the shelves and chimney adapter. I highly recommend you purchase a pipe section with installed damper when you get the stove. You can get one on Amazon. You need the one for 2.36 inch pipe. Depending on your application you might want to get a couple more pipe sections. Stove comes with maybe 6 or 7 feet but if this is going into a Sibley or bell tent you'll need more to keep the tent's peak from interfering with your draft. Be prepared to do a few initial burns outdoors. The off gassing of the stove paint is strong....it is also normal for any painted wood stove. Remember, what your doing here is seasoning the paint. Hence the damper. You don't want a raging fire where the paint is smoking and the stove pipes are glowing red. This will ruin the stove's finish, potentially cause warping and glowing red pipes are dangerous. A cheap stove pipe thermometer is the ticket. Keep it between 300 and 500 degrees if it's a couple of feet up the pipe. You will need to wire it on. They are magnetic and the pipes stainless. Non magnetic. The door is gasketed. Unusual in an inexpensive stove. Important because it allows for less unwanted air intrusion. Managing the draft which is a slider on the ash drawer, along with the damper mentioned earlier the fire in this stove can be controlled quite well. You can even put it out if needed. Monitor the pipe thermometer. Remember to keep the temp above 250 - 300F to reduce creosote buildup in the pipes. The stove is capable of warming a 12x12 Sibley type tent at least in the mid 20s outside temp. While not mentioned, this stove has a secondary burn system. Once up to operating temp with dry wood it is smokeless. Wishes for better: Yes the glass gets blackened...there is no air wash system. But it can be cleaned. The door latch and draft regulator are a bit lightweight but work fine. There is a very small side to side range of movement in the draft regulator. Just a light tap on it is the ticket for fire control. And yes the chimney sections are a bear to get apart once the stove has been in use for a time. My previous tent stove, while incredibly well made, did not burn anywhere near as well as this one. It was hard to start and had insufficient air intake to burn hot enough to really heat. Also, the stove pipe alone cost more than this entire stove even including the damper purchase I recommend. The stove itself was over 3x the cost of the Deerfamy. Long review. Thanks for hanging in. • Great little iron stove kit
The media could not be loaded. Bought this little wood burner for a barn I built this year for the goats over winter. Figured I’d use it to supplement some heat on really cold days. My barns 15’x18’ can get it 20 degrees Warner in an hour with this stove. Seems well thought out and built, I bought a damper pipe to go with this stove and it helps control the draft and flame well. Worth the money for this. ... show more

  • Works well but chimney pipe cracked
Overall a great stove, burns well and heats the tent nicely. The problem is after less than 12 uses, the lowest section of pipe cracked and after cooling crumbled under finger pressure. This could have burnt the tent down had it not been noticed. Update: they reached out to me and replaced the broken part free of charge. They have excellent customer service ... show more

  • radiates heat well
It's heavy but radiates heat very well, good air flow control. The pipes were really difficult to take apart once they had gotten hot then cooled off. It doesn't take much wood to radiate lots of heat. It's very sturdy because it's cast iron, but also heavy but still portable. I drilled a hole in the lever that you lift to open the door, and added the metal end of a bungie so the part I touch to open the door does not get hot. It fits my 4 cup coffee pot perfect and the cup stays warm on the shelf close to or on the stove. ... show more

  • Haven't used it yet
I bought it more for a survival stove. So so far everything is mostly fine with the world. :-) It looks great, solid, well manufactured. Since I am off grid on propane that could no longer be around, I will be getting a couple of 90 degree bends for the stove pipe so I could use it in the house and run the pipe out a window. Easy to fire proof the stove and pipe. ... show more

  • Great stove for the price
I wanted an affordable stove since I can only get out camping in the winter once per month. This stove didn't disappoint. It roasts my 4-6 man tent when temps outside are below freezing. You get around a 2 hour burn. It's heavy, but if you car camp, you won't have to carry it far to your tent. One thing that is missing is there's no damper. You can buy one off Amazon to add on, which I did, but the way the stove is built, you'll get smoke coming out the bottom or the door if you close it all the way. I turn it to where it's partially closed and it cools down the pipe (see image). I also bought some hot tent stove pipe insulation to wrap the pipe with where it exits the tent (I have a Pomoly Bromance 70). I liked that this stove came with the tie-downs, which you need. You will also need to buy some pipe extensions if you have a larger tent like mine, as the pipes that come with this weren't tall enough to reach a couple feet above my tent (which is what is recommended). I like the removable plate on the top, that I take off for cooking. This stove is great. My only other complaint is that it doesn't fit the standard cut sized log. You need to trim your logs down to size for them to fit, but many of them are similar sized so it sort of comes with the territory. Happy (hot tent) camping! ... show more

  • Was not built to standards,
Just not worth the price. Welding was done very cheaply. Pipe is too flimsy. Fireproof glass will not stay clean. But the size is about the only good thing about it.!!

  • Not terrible
The only real complaint is the pipe, it takes to little wood to turn the pipe red. Everyrime add a small piece of wood the pipe turns red
