Avoid overly oily beans. I love the strong extracted brew. The frother is excellent and I like to froth without the automatic attachment. The machine advises when it needs to be descaled. If I didn't have water softener/reverse osmosis, then I'd use bottled water. I love that this machine can do cool espresso and coffee. My friends say my coffee drinks are the BEST. I had this model but older one since 2017 whole family loved it the grinder and gaskets went so after 9years I bought a new one assumed it would be just as great.. but I am disappointed the older model all you had to do was set and forget you can make any drink with same grind settings. Now if you want to make a certain drink you need to change the setting each time and you only find out after you waste grinds to find out it won’t come out bc the grind is either to small and blocks the coffee from coming out then you have to do over like 3 times waste more grinds more mess to finally find the right dose n grind takes like 13 min to make anything I have 4 people home each want their own beverage it’s impossible to make anything bc each time you make a diff drink the dose and setting needs to be done all over again takes 3-4-5 times till it the right dose n grind its frustrating ... show more

The De'Longhi La Specialista Maestro Expresso machine does a fantastic job in what is supposed to make among the various drinks, like Expresso in two sizes, cold brews, and americanos. I wish it was a bit smaller, as it takes a big chunk of my countertop real estate. I ordered one that was supposed to be "like new." But when I received it, it had a chipping at the corner of the water tank, a dent up front of the tray, and a writing on the grinding that was partially erased. It was priced as like NEW, while it is partially damaged. It should have been much lower because of all these damages. Amazon owes me a refund! I prefer not to go through the hassle of returning it, as it is heavy! if Amazon gives a refund to compensate for these shortcomings not disclosed before receiving it. Otherwise, the machine does a good espresso and cold brews! Love it! ... show more

This is our third De’Longhi is 15 years. The first one lasted 10 years, no problems. The second one was a turd. “Empty grounds” was on all the time with or without grounds. They were both $2,000 super automatics. The Maestro takes all that away and gives us complete control. It’s an awesome machine!

Waited forever for this delivery, and it came completely dead on arrival. It’s an Open Box item, but only one indicator light turns on and it doesn't respond to anything. How is this tested before reselling? Or are you just cycling broken customer returns from one victim to the next? Now I’m stuck lugging this heavy box to a drop-off point to get my money back.     • LatteCrema system is underwhelming and not worth the pricepoint

The milk steaming capabilities of this machine fall very short. The grinder and expresso extraction (hot and cold) work great. Here are my challenges with the milk steamer: 1. Manual steaming/frothing is very underpowered and not even close to my previous breville 2. The lattecrema system clogs ALL the time and there is never a consistent quantity despite trying to do the manual setting to adjust for size of cup. The full soap soak, rinse, and cleanup of these parts take longer than manually steaming your milk. This system is designed for regular cows milk, not plant based milks. This was told to me during one the many support emails I exchanged with Delonghi. I wish this information had been disclosed before purchase. As I mentioned, I reached out to support over the past couple months (who were prompt and helpful) to fix the inconsistent and malfunctioning lattecrema system, however the only resolution was to avoid plant based milks. The higher price point and lack of an adequate milk system left me very disappointed. ... show more
