I used this light for the first time tonight and I am very impressed. It was easy to assemble and is quite sturdy. It has three settings for brightness and even though the lens is acrylic, it is of excellent quality. I have an older very large magnifying light that was quite expensive years ago. This one from the Daylight Company is MUCH better. I like that the light is not huge. It doesn't overtake the room like my other light does.     • Light Does Not Work Properly After Converting to Desk Lamp
Five stars for the light. It is wonderful to stitch with. I dismantled mine to make it a desktop light. When I went to reassemble it, the top part of the light will not screw in. This has caused the light to constantly shut off while I'm using it. I called customer service and they had no idea how to put it back together. I then sent in a customer service email with a video and two weeks later no answer. ... show more

    • Great as a table lamp, but lacks as a floor lamp
OK, I love this light, because it offers magnifying and great light at the same time. So, it's perfect at the table. But I tried to use another one (I have more than one) as a "floor" model, and it was woefully lacking. It is really short (compared to regular lamps, in my opinion), and it just looked weird next to furniture because of its very small stature. (You can use this lamp as either a table top lamp, or insert the rod to make it a floor model lamp.) Also, it doesn't really stretch that far over, if you are sitting in a chair and trying to use it as a floor lamp. I was so disappointed in my attempts to use it that way. But, with that said, I absolutely love it for worth at the table, where I can physically pull its base closer to my chair while I work. I just could not make it work like that as a floor model. The light quality is terrific, and the magnifying glass is also terrific. ... show more

Absolutely love this lamp! It's not tall enough to reach over my couch, but I place it at my feet and use the light/magnifier for cross stitch on black aida, and it provides great visibility and greatly reduces eye strain. It has 3 brightness levels and I use the medium setting.
