  • I love it this bass plays very well and was exactly ...
Color: Black
I bought this Bass one cuz I didn't have one and wanted to learn, and so I could use it with Rocksmith 2014 as something more than just guitar to play. I love it this bass plays very well and was exactly the kind of starter I was looking for a few points about it. 1.) When they say full size Bass they mean that, im about 6'4 and I almost fully extend my arm for the 1st and 2nd frets, no big deal for me, I only mention for parents who might be looking for a starter bass for a child, the neck is heavy as I would expect and the guitar itself is light bodied, (love that) 2.) The amp is a starter amp and is exactly that, its good enough to mess around with to make sure Bass is something you would want to pursue, would recommend upgrading to something like a Peavey Vypyr Vip-1 for a more serious play as they only run about 120-140$ at a guitar center. 3.) The strap is functional and seems rigid enough to hold up for awhile under normal use or practice situations, I already had several straps from all my other guitars so I find myself just holding that one for a backup. 4.) The bag is pretty nice seems solid enough but as more of a protector than anything if you were going to be carrying it around ALOT I would recommend a 20-35$ upgraded carrying bag but this will hold up just fine. 5.) Came with 6 picks 3 size ranges from .58-1.50 pretty solid picks but most people will probably end up finger picking and learning the slap/pop methods first, personally for bass I like a much wider pick so I already had my own for this but these will work great. All in all I gave this a 5 for what it is, a starter bass to make sure its something you want to do and I gotta say I would buy this again in a heartbeat without thinking twice this Bass is a lot of fun and opened up a whole new section of Rocksmith and Music in general for me, highly recommended. ... show more

  • Loving And Enjoying My New Bass Guitar
Color: Blue
This Davison bass guitar blue package is a very nice looking guitar and it sounds great. It was just darker in color than on the buying picture page and it looks like it is a solid black. If you would shine a light on it then you can see that it is clearly blue and that is the only down side about this guitar. This is a very beautiful instrument and it has good quality to it. All of the parts has a chrome finish to them the bridge, volume tone control knobs, and tuning pegs/machines. This guitar is a great purchase for a beginner bass player and the price is very good. The shipping of the guitar was very fast. I ordered the guitar on 12/12/14 and received it on 12/16/14. This is an excellent shipping time. Also the guitar was shipped out from the Musician's Discount Warehouse which provided outstanding packing of the guitar. The box that it came in was damaged pretty bad but the guitar was well protected inside the box. The guitar and amp was not damaged at all. I am very pleased with this purchase big time. This was a Christmas gift from my girlfriend (fiance). (5-*Star) Wash., D.C. ... show more

  • Updated: Very decent bass for the price Updated: Very decent bass for the price

UPDATE: After failing to fix the bass myself and with the help of Davidson's support techs, I returned it and just tested the replacement they sent me. No burrs on the fret board, no ground noise when connected to a powered mixer. I can actually use this bass for recording now, which is a very good thing for a budget bass. I'm sure most purchases with be far less headache than mine was, so as of now I will say this is a good buy for beginners. Old Review: The sound is not bad for a budget bass. I am still very new to playing, so this seems like a generally good one for practice. Sadly this guitar had me practicing my DIY repair skills more than playing initially. The build quality is rough to say the least. The first thing I noticed was the rattling of a loose washer on one of the tuning heads. No big deal, I just tightened up the nut to secure it better. Next I plugged it into the bundled amp. Some loud persistent buzzing put a quick end to that attempt. After some testing I determined that there is a bad ground in the bass guitar itself. I also picked up some battery powered Vox Amplugs which made the sound more bearable (some mild popping still occurs when touching the strings). I still have yet to open it up and check the wiring inside the bass. The ultimate sign of craftsmanship for this guitar was the fret board. Every single fret was jutting out beyond the width of the neck, just enough to snag your fingers. Not only that, but they were also sharp as hell. I'll admit that I did give myself a nice cut trying to play it. Fortunately, they were easy enough to shave down with a small metal file. I added a photo of the frets closer to the body that I have not filed down yet so you can see how far they stick out. Will this be worth my purchase after I finish fixing it? Despite it's initial flaws, I do like the action, tone and weight of it. Would I buy it again? Nope. ... show more

  • Very satisfied
Color: Black
Never touched a bass before but am familiar with guitars and such. Mine arrived exactly as described. The neck was straight with no bow or warp. The bridge hardware looks a little cheap but functional with adjustment for intonation and string height. I had it plugged in and was plucking in about 10 minutes. The included amp is loud enough and between the guitar volume/tone and the amp controls, you can overdrive or distort your sound fairly easily. It tuned easily and I was soon practicing scales. I really can't compare this with "professional" basses due to lack of experience, but this one sounds good and, for a package deal it is "wicked cheap" and well worth the money. After running scales up and down the neck, I noticed that the e-string would buzz against the frets a little bit for me. A slight adjustment on the bridge saddle cleaned things up nicely. If you are having trouble with fret buzz, get the guitar set up by someone who knows what they are doing. Next step for me is to have my brother (who has played bass for over 20 years now) look at. Also, my friend, a Berklee trained guitarists will also get to weigh in, I will update my review to include their opinions. ... show more

  • Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz and amp rattles inside
Color: Black
UPDATE 2026: Bought it again for $165.00. Was $99.00 before. Again the bass needed remedial work see below. Although the little amp works, the masonite face of the amp that holds the speaker was not secured to the frame of the amp, screws not all the way in and it rattles around loose. Had to glue in a piece of wood to secure it. I was willing to overlook this kind of thing for $99 but not for $165.00. I would take away 2 stars but it wont let me. OLD REVIEW: l have been modding guitars for years and got this to have some fun with it. After adjusting the truss rod to flatten out the bowing, shimming the neck pocket and adjusting the bridge I got the action to a good place. Fret ends were ok. Wire wound strings hurt my fingers so I ordered some flat wounds ($35.00). I plugged into the little amp that came with it and there was a very loud buzz. Turned off the fluorescents and other devices, no change. Tried a high quality well shielded guitar cable and it still buzzed. Plugged my Strat into the amp and it was completely gone so its not the amp. The pickups are supposed to be two single coils wired together like a humbucker, one with a reverse wound coil. I opened the hood and inspected them and the controls. There is no shielding in the pickup or control cavities. Easily fixed with supplies in my shop. I rewired the pickups a few different ways, series, reverse series, parallel two different ways, and separately and they all buzzed. I covered the pickups themselves in foil, still buzzed. I restored the pickups to the original configuration and reassembled it. No sound at all. Ordered a new set of entry level Fender brand P-bass pickups to replace these ($45.00). I know ALL the tricks to get rid of this kind of buzz but none of them worked today. It will take some work in addition to the extra $80 I already spent to make it right but that's half the fun isn't it? ... show more

  • Excellent value and quality
Color: Black
Very impressed by this beginner pack. The guitar itself feels sturdy and well constructed, and the strings stay in tune pretty well. The amp is exactly what you'd expect - far from great but good enough for practicing and learning songs...it sounds best at a lower volume, so it's perfect if you live in an apartment and don't wanna get noise complaints. It has knobs for volume, bass and treble, along with a headphone jack. Pretty basic stuff but it does the job. You also get a strap, a few picks, and a bag to lug around your bass without damaging it. If you're new to bass guitar like myself, this is an excellent choice. Very nice quality for the price, especially the guitar itself. I don't have any complaints at all. It's not top of the line gear, but one would be crazy to expect that for the insanely low price point. It sounds good, feels good to play, it's the total package, and it's cheap. What else could you want? 5/5 Also...if you wanna get a dirty, rumbling, Geezer Butler ish sound...crank up the bass knob on the amp and turn the treble down to 1, and turn the tone knob on the guitar down almost all the way. I dig that doom rock sound but if you want a brighter tone, this package can do that too. ... show more

  • Not good.
Color: Black
It's poorly made. I would like a refund, but to keep the item as well. I want to talk to the maker of it. They wanted to make a good guitar. The price is low. But the guitar is really badly made. A lot of love went into it. It's bothersomely made as well. It has too big of a stature. The strings are too heavy. The picks are horrible, they aren't even full and they're flappy! The cord is bad. It lags! A cord has lag time! The time it takes to go through copper wire is over 3 sec! The amp is bad as well. No overdrive. And the amp is tiny. And its noise volume is low. The guitar is basically unplayable. The strings are too rigid. Tony Campos of Static-X and others do love it. But it's not good, doesn't sound right, and doesn't smell good. Curtis likes it overdriven because it sounds like a techno guitar. It sounds horrible. Something is wrong with it. The sound is so evil. Other guitars are satanic. This one isn't even demonic. It's bedridden. How bad! Also the cable broke after a while. Less than a month of play time. Usage was professional musician, so this is not acceptable. They replaced it with a new one free of charge, but are not interested in making a good product. So that was fraud and not good obviously. The new chord game waaaay too late to be used. So I lost profits. Very bad! And fans were also dissatisfied by them. The cable is also short. It has lag time, and the guitar is notably quite cheap. The fans, however, don't mind this, and custom versions which I make are quite fond of. ... show more
