I used to use chemicals to straightened my hair which meant having to do the process every 2 to 3 months. About 4 years ago I decided that I would no longer do that as I wanted to be able to see my natural curl rather than a relaxed one. I have been trying to find a product that would help keep the hair soft and keep my hair from shrinking too much. This worked for that purpose although not as much as I wanted. In addition, I wanted to be able to blow dry my hair without too much frizz. This product is amazing in that regard. I combined this with Amika anti humidity spray and used the comb chase technique and wow… my hair looks as if I had been in a salon using relaxers. It provides amazing shine and softness. This is one of my favorite Davines products. If you have rebel hair with humidity this product is perfect. I recommend every single Davines product. I have been using Davines for 10 years.

Truth be told I was a bit disappointed in this product and don't know if I'd repurchase it. This was supposed to be a new and improved version of Davines' Defining Relaxing Fluid (the one in the red tube), which has now apparently been discontinued. However, for whatever reason, this just doesn't work as well on my hair as the Defining one did and I'm not sure why. It just doesn't moisturize and smooth out my hair as well as the Defining did. I hope that other people have better experiences but, be forewarned to have realistic expectations. I also didn't like the fragrance in this one as much as the one in the Defining. It has a strange, slightly nutty smell, while the Defining fragrance is a bit lighter and cleaner to me. I also dislike that this product offers less ounces than the Defining did, so it doesn't give as much "bang for the buck" so to speak. I do like the packaging with the cute wrapping paper and inspirational quote on the inside of it. However, since it didn't quite fulfill its main purpose that well (smoothing hair), that isn't enough to compensate for its weaknesses for me. This is by no means a terrible product, which is why I still gave three stars. However, for various reasons it simply doesn't live up to the product it was supposed to replace and improve upon. If you can get your hands on the Defining I would still recommend that one rather than this.
