**Update- this heater keeps a rock solid temperature and works well in a 5 gal tank. Fyi- before doing a water change, be sure to unplug it and afterwards give it 15-20 mins before plugging it back in. This will let the glass cover stabilize and minimize a change of it cracking. Good heater!! This is a pretty good small heater. This is smaller than a traditional aquarium heater, and you can't set the temperature as its preset. (I did buy the temp adjustable DaToo as a backup in case this one didn't work out or happened to fail) I have found that it does not run at the stated 78 degrees, as the room temp seems to affect it. In a 5 gallon tank, with the room temp at 76.4 degrees, the heater warms the water to 80.4 degrees and keeps it rock steady at that temp. It tends to cycle ON for 4 minutes, then turn off for 12-13 mins. The red 'ON' LED is quite dim to see, the green OFF LED is a bit brighter, and the cord is on the short side. Am using for a Betta and so far so good, will be keeping an eye on it for reliability and how accurate it maintains temp. Before this, I was using one of those constant-on 5-watt heaters, in a 2.5 gallon tank. It did a good job but tended to overheat the water if left on constant. A work around was to use a electric outlet timer- set for 30mins on and 1hr off was able to maintain a stable temp without overheating. ... show more

I think overall it's a great heater for a small tank, not intrusive and heats/regulates itself. Only downside is the thermometer sticker; be sure you're certain where it's placed because it comes apart if you try to move it at all once it touches the glass

On March 19th 2024 we purchased a "Mini Aquarium Heater 25W Small Fish Tank Heater 25 Watt with Free Thermometer Sticker" from this company. This morning we went into our grandsons room and saw his Betta fish stuck to the filter. When I went to lift the cover off the aquarium I discovered the water in the tank was extremely warm to the touch. I grabbed a thermometer and confirmed the tank was way to warm as is was 113 degrees. Unfortunately the fish died due to the heater malfunctioning and allowing the water to hit 113 degress instead of shutting off at 78 degress as your product advertising states. Amazon was polite enough to refund our money for the heater, but I feel that it's company's responsibility to refund the money lost to replace our Betta fish. The money is not a lot, but it's the principle that I asked them to reimburse us for the replacement fish. As of today I have not received a response from this company. The lack of response and the non responsive to thier customers makes this company a terrible place to buy anything from. ... show more

Heater works well, keeps temp in specified range. However, the suction cup grew deformed and doesn't adhere to the glass, so it eventually starts floating around the tank which can be dangerous if you have hard swimming fish and hard scape. Not very durable in that sense. Accuracy of heater is good.

Mine works great. I have ordered again, so I now have 2 25w for my small tanks. No problems whatsoever. Solid, consistent temp. One thing however, do NOT use the sticker that comes with it. It seems to work, but will not come cleanly off your tank when removed. Thermometers are not expensive, so buy a real one that goes on with a suction cup.
