I bought this knife after weeks of deliberation between Dalstrong and their competitors on Amazon. In the end, the price, value, reportedly great customer service, and style won me over. I received the knife on time, in a very sexy white box. At this price point, they try to make you feel special. It does work, but we all know the proof is in the pudding. Onto the knife: It's an excellent blade. The handle is comfortable, the metal has good heft. I am pleased with the design, sharpness out of the box, and the lady is very pleased. We had a small issue with shipping, and Dalstrong made it right. I value their small, family run company and I promise this is not a paid review. They are genuinely good knives, easily giftable at a great price point. I purchased this before I jumped on one of their "only five-star" reviewed knives in the 100+ price point range. I will be getting one after trying out this series :)

About a year ago I needed a new boning knife and order Dalstrong's Gladiator series. I liked it from the day I used it. they are very well balanced, the handle is comfortable to hold and grip, and the blade holds an edge. I broke down 75 22-26 lb turkeys for last Thanksgiving with out having to touch the sharpening stone. Due to the fact I am a chef in a national park I was laid off during the government shutdown and my knife set was stolen. I replaced my entire set with Dalstrong and do not regret it what so ever. Every knife has been built with the same quality and yes I did order the big daddy butchers knife. I have only two areas that could use improvement. First it would be great if they would build knife set for chef's in their kitchens such as a butchers set or a grade mange set with knife rolls or carrying cases. The block sets offer little to the professional kitchen. And second i am disappointed they have not yet contacted me to become their official spokesperson and send me to show how awesome their knives are, lol. Okay the second reason is a pipe dream but its fun to dream. But really these knives are great and the quality far exceeds the price

WOW, this is an outstanding knife. First off it is beautiful. It is like a piece of artwork. The knife is well made and elegant. The knife comes in a very classy box for storage or for giving as a gift. The knife is seven inches long. It is great for cutting and especially chopping. I love how the handle fits in my hand and the grip I have on it. It makes it very easy to cut and dice fruits and vegetables. I used it to chop up some ginger, onions and scallions for dinner last night and it worked very well. The blade is so pretty and yet so sharp too. The knife has a sheath that comes with it to keep it safe which is an extra bonus. I am really thrilled with this knife. It works very well, it is made extremely well and has a good grip to it. The knife smoothly cuts and chops it is not hard to accurately cut things. This knife makes cutting almost anything easy and quick. I would highly recommend this knife, it is wonderful product

Dang it, this knife is amazingly sharp. I mean very sharp so be careful, use proper knuckles folded under technique. While it is German steel and Rockwell hardness 56, versus Japanese steel with Rockwell of abut 60-61, it seems to hold an edge well. The handle is very well made. Even my wife, who does not have great knife skills loves it. Our very sharp Chinese cleaver is on hiatus for a while. The only caveats are that it is a bit heavy and the handle is large. I like heavy knives but if you have weak hands, the weight may be tiring if you chop a lot. The large handle may also be difficult but my wife, who has small hands, does not seem to mind. If you use it properly with a pinch grip technique, it seems very well balanced. One comment, the Gratons or indentations on the knife seem to make no difference in whether food sticks or not. Some people say it does but I find no difference in blades with or without the indentations. Overall, a great value, I highly recommend it.

After years of being frugal, I decided to upgrade my kitchen tools. The Nakiri is the second Dalstrong knife that I purchased (i.e. I was not compensated to write a review), and they will continue to receive my business. The Nakiri is perfectly balanced and retains a razor sharp edge. I find myself incorporating more vegetables in my meals. This knife has made food prep much more enjoyable. I also have to share more information on why Dalstrong will continue to receive my business. Between the time I purchased the knife in September of 2017 and May 2018, the wood handle started to shrink. When holding the knife, I could feel the corners of the full tang in my palm as I held it. The difference could be measured in < 1 mm; incredibly small, but enough to notice when using the knife. I contacted the company directly and explained my problem. After their prompt reply and a couple emails with the c/s rep, a replacement knife was express shipped to me. The replacement knife's handle was perfectly smooth, just as expected.
