  • Totally worth it for the price
Style: 7 inch Nakiri knife
I own quite a few Japanese style knives sense cooking is one of my favourite things to do after work, I don’t work at all in the restaurant or food prep sector so I find it,(most of time) very relaxing after a days work. I didn’t need any more, that’s for sure, but this popped up on Amazon Prime days, and I looked into it and said what the heck, for that price, just under $28, what’s one more? I own three Mercer Japanese chef style knives, which all run around $60 apiece, I also have a genuine Damascus knife worth about $90. That said, for $28, this knife is really really nice. Super sharp out of the box, I like that it’s a 15° angle, feels good in the hand, and it looks darn nice also. I like that it’s very wide so it’s easy to prep veggies and cut meat without the worry of hitting your fingertips. If there is one complaint, it would be that the food does stick to the knife when cutting, especially high water content veggies like potatoes and onions, but all knives stick, I have hammered knives and also dimpled knives and they also have a problem with food stick, you just deal with it. Having said all this, for this price, this is a great knife, great value.. ... show more

  • It's sharp, but a little over sold.
Style: 7 inch Nakiri knife
Don't get me wrong it's doing what I need to do when I want to veg on a biase, Julienne etc. But it ain't sliding through all lightening fast. It's beautiful and effective. I cook 6/7 days a week and cook for the elderly so although I'm not BOH anymore, I'm still way above the average home cook. I'll say get them sharpened professionally every 3 months. ... show more

  • My new favorite knife
Style: 7 inch Nakiri knife
Holy crap I like this knife. My go to was one of two chef's knives that I've owned for about fifteen years. One finally met its demise due to an unfortunate accident. Figured I'd check out what was out there rather than just buy another chef's knife blindly. I read about Nakiri knives and figured I'd give one a try. Extremely easy to chop vegetables and fruit and if you want to paper thin slices, it is crazy easy. I read that they weren't really intended for meat but I've had no issues so far with tri tip or boneless chicken. I would not recommend this be used on anything with bone unless you're careful. Too thin for that. I don't know how this knife compares to other Nakiri knives, or if they're all this way, but this is a damn good knife. ... show more

  • Added YEARS to my life, for real!! Added YEARS to my life, for real!!
Style: 7 inch Nakiri knife
I order a lot of things from Amazon. If I wrote a review for everything, I wouldn't have much of a life. That's why I only write reviews when I'm truly wowed. This knife impressed me for sure. I've know that quality, professional knives can be a timesaver, but holy cow, they are expensive! Saw this knife pop up after a search for a new set of knives as my old, dull, inexpensive ones wern't making the cut...pun intended 🤭 Made vegetable soup today & this baby went thru everything I threw at it with ease. I swear it cut the usual prep time in half; again, pun intended. 😊 Beautifully packaged (would make a great gift) and comes with useful accessories like blade & finger protection. Absolutely love it!! ... show more

  • Solid Knife Great for Dicing
Style: 7 inch Nakiri knife
Nicely surprised with this knife. Handle is comfortable and allows for an easy grip near the blade and not so wide as to be cumbersome for smaller hands. The rounded front edge and the non-tapered blade makes fast work of slicing hard vegetables and dicing. I still prefer a santoku when going for thinner slices of "stickier" vegetables like potatoes only because you get less stick to the blade than you do with this nakiri style, but it does wonders with mincing garlic, julienning carrots and general chopping. The one thing I don't love are the the "wood grain" swirls on the blade itself. Stylistically, it's odd, and I would've preferred a clean blade without any design features, but that's a personal preference. Comes nicely packaged in a giftable box and would make a lovely housewarming gift for your favorite chef. ... show more
