I replaced an older similarly priced knife with this. I normally get pricier kitchen knives, but my midsized Santoku gets a lot of abuse from my family. My wife and daughters have smaller hands and really like the size for a lot of food prep work, so use it pretty much daily. I was a little worried I'd find it cheap, but it's not bad at all. Definitely light weight, but not so much it doesn't do the job well. It was sharp out of the box and holds an edge well. It's comfortable for my large hands and their smaller ones, which doesn't happen a lot. It's not so expensive that I'll get sensitive about it. If they stick it in the dishwasher or use it for "the wrong thing", I won't worry. And if it ends up with big dings in the blade in a year or two, I won't feel bad just replacing it over putting a ton of work into it. So I guess it also helps my relationships and keeps me from being the pedantic knife jerk (all the time). Very happy with my purchase. ... show more
