  • good handle and good blade
Style: Butcher Knife
So first I want to say that I bought this knife because I am a butcher and I am in need of a good knife because my company buys garbage. I want to get this out of the way because I need a knife that will hold its edge for long periods of time. A lot of cheaper knifes will dull very quickly and its not practical to stop and re edge them or hone them after each cut. What I use this knife for is more of the extreme side. First Impressions were good. The knife comes in a fancy box with this booklet talking about knifes. The knife itself comes with a pretty well made leather sheath, Though I wish the sheath was a little smaller, there's nothing wrong with and the knife fits fine, I just would have like to see a little less material used in the sheath. Next thing you notice is the handle and by god this is properly the best handle I've ever held. The knife is a full tang and runs through the handle. The handle itself as a great finishing polish and is colored blue which I think fits really well with the black blade. The handle is held in place by three metal pieces that are sanded down and flush with the material of the handle. Alot of knife handles at lower prices will have cheap plastic handles that frankly are trash to use, This handle is very comfortable and at the same time gives you plenty of grip. Alot of times when your cutting if you have a bad handle you will need to death grip the handle or your hand will slide up the blade if it gets wet. The tang itself extends out the back little and has a hole so you could hang it up. The overall weight is good and its well balanced. The blade came very sharp and I haven't had the need to take it too my wet stone just yet which is great. The blade is not super chucky either but not super thin to make it brittle. I only two issues I have this blade are very minor but I feel like I should still mention them. For one the tip is not that sharp. It really doesnt need to be for a knife thats made to cut but the point could be better. Due to how good the handle is and the shape of it you can pretty much pull it right out if the sheath without undoing the buckle. It wont fall out or anything and you do need to put a moderate amount of pulling force to get it out but anyone who uses a knife regularly should be able to generate enough force to pull it out. Over all I really like this knife and as someone who cuts meat for 8 hours a day I would get this again and in fact I am planning on getting the bullnose knife and the paring and maybe the fillet knife. I do wish they had a boning knife but I will have to make do. ... show more

  • Im a professional chef...Its a fun knife but not for a professional kitchen
Style: Butcher Knife
Okay, here's a review of the Dalstrong Butcher Knife - 10 inch - Delta Wolf Series Knife, focusing on its Ultra-Thin & Zero Friction blade: Review: Dalstrong Butcher Knife - 10 inch - Delta Wolf Series - A Precision Powerhouse with a Few Quirks The Dalstrong Delta Wolf series is known for its bold aesthetics and performance-focused design, and their 10-inch Butcher Knife is no exception. This knife boasts a visually striking appearance with its unique handle and, more importantly, a purported "ultra-thin & zero friction" blade, which promises effortless slicing and improved maneuverability. But does it live up to the hype? Here's my take: The Positives: Ultra-Thin Blade Performance: The core selling point of this knife is its incredibly thin blade profile. This is not just marketing fluff; the thinness is immediately noticeable and translates to remarkably smooth and clean cuts. It glides through meat with significantly less resistance than many other butcher knives I've used. It truly feels like it's "zero friction," especially when working with large cuts of brisket or roasts. Precision Control: The thin blade doesn't just make cutting easier; it also enhances precision. This makes it easier to navigate around bones and trim fat with greater accuracy, something crucial for serious home cooks and professional butchers alike. Razor Sharp Edge: Out of the box, the Dalstrong Delta Wolf knife is impressively sharp. It easily passes the paper test and makes quick work of various meats and poultry. This sharpness, coupled with the thin blade, makes for an incredibly efficient cutting experience. Unique Aesthetics: Love it or hate it, the Delta Wolf series has a distinctive look. The sculpted handle with its intricate design and striking pattern is eye-catching and adds a touch of flair to any kitchen. It certainly stands out from more traditional butcher knives. Solid Build Quality: Though visually striking, the knife feels substantial and well-built. The handle feels secure and provides good balance, contributing to overall control. The materials feel high quality and designed for long-term use. The Negatives: Handle Design Divisiveness: While the unique handle design is a selling point for some, it might not be comfortable for everyone. The sculpted pattern can feel a little aggressive, and some might find it less ergonomic than a smoother, more traditional handle. It's definitely something you should try to handle before purchasing, if possible. Thinness = Less Robustness: The ultra-thin blade, while great for slicing, raises concerns about its robustness and potential for bending or chipping if used improperly. This knife is designed for slicing and precision work, not heavy-duty chopping or breaking down bones. It requires a gentler touch and careful handling. Price Point: This knife is not cheap. It sits in a higher price range than many traditional butcher knives. The question for potential buyers becomes whether the ultra-thin blade and unique design justify the premium price tag. Learning Curve: While the effortless slicing is a plus, the thinness and precision of the blade might require a slight learning curve. Those accustomed to using more robust butcher knives will need to adjust their technique to work efficiently with this knife. Overall: The Dalstrong Butcher Knife - 10 inch - Delta Wolf Series is a well-engineered tool that lives up to its "ultra-thin & zero fiction" billing. Its blade is a joy to use for slicing and precision work, making quick work of various cuts of meat. However, its unique handle design and slightly more fragile nature might not appeal to everyone. It’s a fantastic knife for those who prioritize precision and efficiency over brute force, and are willing to invest in a tool that requires a more delicate touch. Who is this knife for? Serious Home Cooks & Culinary Professionals: Those who routinely work with large cuts of meat and prioritize precision and clean cuts. Enthusiasts of Innovative Design: Those who appreciate unique aesthetics and are looking for a knife that stands out. Those Who Understand the Limits of a Thin Blade: Shoppers who are aware that this is not a heavy-duty chopping knife, but a precision slicer. Who is it NOT for? Those Seeking a Robust, All-Purpose Knife: Those looking for a knife they can use for chopping bones and other rough tasks. Those on a Budget: The premium price tag may be prohibitive for some. Those Who Prefer Traditional Handle Designs: Those who find sculpted handles uncomfortable or awkward to use. Final Verdict: The Dalstrong Delta Wolf Butcher Knife is a unique and effective tool that excels in slicing and precision work. It's a high-performance knife that comes with a higher price tag and requires some understanding of its limitations. If you're looking for a knife that offers effortless slicing and precision, and you appreciate its distinctive design, this knife is definitely worth considering. Just be sure to handle it with care! ... show more

  • Good knife when on sale.
Style: Butcher Knife
bought it when it was on 30% sale (about $100) I would have returned it immediately if i had paid full price. the knife feels like a $40 knife with a $40 sheath and a $20 packaging and box. the positive. it feels like a cross between a sujihiki and a cimeter. Hold an edge longer than I expected. the negative. the handle gets slippery and the transition from handle to blade is very scary at first. It’s not a problem after getting used to the knife. ... show more

  • Good knife
Style: Butcher Knife
I like the knife, but was not happy with the color. These are okay as far as quality for the price. The color was not as advertised on the website, it is really purple as opposed to the pics on the website that depict it as gray. I love the shape and size. It is sharp and of good quality. Does what I expected of it. ... show more

This blade is one of a series that I am acquiring for my work as a meat cutter. They are built strong and durable. The sharpness is so fine that I have to place almost no pressure on the primal when slicing through them. I will definitely be acquiring more to fill my new Dalstrong bag as well. Thanks for great quality German steel, and high quality standards. I will be a repeat lifetime customer. ... show more

  • Top Tier.
Style: Butcher Knife
I bought this knife for a work knife 3 or 4 months ago, it's still just as sharp as when I received it. Good, sturdy blade and clean cuts. My only problem is the handle is a little smooth and so say if you have any pork fat or blood on your hands, you could easily slide on the blade but as long as you keep that in mind, the knife is truly top tier. ... show more
