- S8 (Gen 2) is the second generation of ATOTO S8 Android car stereo, and its Soc applies a 12nm manufacturing process, ARM Cortext Octa-Core processor (higher efficiency, lower consumption, High performance), and the latest ATOTO AICE UI 11.0 (deep customization on Android Q). S8 (Gen 2) brings satisfaction to various operations. Four options are available to get internet access - WiFi/Bluetooth/USB Tethering connection, or via built-in 4G Cellular Modem (SIM card not included).
- Dual Bluetooth allows S8 to enable multi-connections with phone & other BT devices simultaneously. BT2 supports connecting to the Phone's BT tethering internet. BT1 comes with Qualcomm aptX HD codec, supporting 24-bit music quality over BT. Listeners can hear even the smallest details in their music (phone needs to support BT aptX HD codec, too). Built-in phone integration link supports wired/wireless Android Auto, plus wired/wireless CarPlay.
- S8G2109UP applies the latest 10.1-inch 1280x720 QLED display (high-resolution, more clear/vivid picture, and 178viewing angle). The 10.1-inch floating display part stands out from its double din base allowing users to adjust the height and view angles (up or down). For VERY few vehicles, the edge of the large screen may block the air vent, car emergency switch button, or other buttons, resulting in inconvenient operation. Make sure yours wont have such problems, or you can accept that.
- Hands Gesture Sensor embedded allows you to control S8 in a cool&easy way - Skip tracks, adjust the system volume, and access other operations quickly. Speed Compensated Volume Control (SCVC)-Automatically adjusting S8's system volume as vehicle speed changes, to compensate for the road and wind noise. Users can put memorable photos in the specified gallery folder and let them play automatically on S8's large HD screen with only a tap. ATOTO provides continuous firmware updates when available.

First, I think this stereo is one of the best values, if not the best value, for this style of stereo out there on the market right now. The capabilities if you choose to embrace them is awesome. But most of all is that I started off with my unit having some difficulties (which happens to anyone!) and I was really nervous that I was not going to get any support but that just was not the case. I got tremendous support from Atoto as well as truly fantastic follow up. That is so uncommon, particularly from an Amazon seller (no offense Amazon, but a lot of the sellers just don't care about you after the return period!), that I would definitely purchase from them again. This particular head unit really checked all the boxes for me and the deeper I have gotten into it, the more love I have. I will try and update this further and do perhaps a video review, but at the moment I am battling some other gremlins with my engine swap that are taking priority---so more later! That all said, let me start out by saying this has wireless Apple Carplay. It was hard to figure out and the only downside to the stereo I have is the lack of more adequate tutorials. So let me just start with how you get that running. You will want to first connect your bluetooth between the phone and the head unit. Then you start by plugging your phone into the USB phone link cable. Don't worry---you just do this the first time! Next, you have to find the pink/red icon that says "CAR LINK" on the touchscreen. To find it, press the "Home" button on the very bottom of the unit, in the far lower right corner. That brings up a bunch of front-page icons. Don't see it? Don't worry---it is just one another page. You can swipe the screen to the side to reveal more icons. Mine was on the second page and you can see it in the upper right corner of my second attached picture. Press that with the phone plugged in. It will load it up which takes a few seconds and it tells you it is doing that. After that, you can unplug your phone and next time you start your car, it will just automatically connect! You start CarPlay by pressing the CarLink button and it will wirelessly connect. I am also running wireless tire pressure sensors and rearview camera along with amplifiers. I dig this stereo. My only downside is that the audio beep when you press select an icon is a little loud---I just haven't figured out how to adjust it yet and that is only because I have not even tried! I will figure that out when the truck is more finished from an engine swap standpoint :-). Right now, how I feel, is that I would buy another one in a heartbeat. And that, to me is the best review I can think of.

I wasn't sure whether the floating 10.1 inch version would work in 3rd gen 4Runners, but it fits! And since the stereo is so down low on the 3rd gens, it's really nice to have a screen that slightly tilts up. I didn't have to make any modifications to the stock plastic framing. I angled the screen up one or two notches, and slid it down to the lowest setting. It's a bit difficult to get the final screws in for the screen once everything else is mounted, but I got it in. It just barely obscures some of the climate controls, but they're still reasonably usable and I'd say it's worth it. The screen stays out of the way of the manual transmission shifter (not sure about automatics). Built-in GPS and wireless CarPlay is working flawlessly so far! Only had it for a day now, but wanted to post a photo of what it's like in a 3rd gen 4Runner since I wasn't sure it would work!

Down to the important topic, the features: WiFi and GPS Antena works great, obviously positioning these in the ideal spots will yield the best signal. For my 2003 F250 Powerstroke once the original radio was removed I was able to place the GPS/WIFI antenna under the dash.. Next Up was the Mic, this was installed in the A pillar with ease! The headunit itself does only have one sub rca input so you’ll have to use a RCA/Y adapter and you’re all set, just be mindful of the type you order as you may need to trim back on the silicone bushing to connect completely. Wireless CarPlay does work well but it can get stuck in-between modes when using the USB port (Non dvr one) Ex: charging your device. So to fix this you will have to close out all tabs and disconnect/reconnect.. The radio FM/AM is superb in signal quality utilizing the OEM antenna input vs the factory unit! The app to mirror the phone using the (DVR usb port) is very laggy and/or the streaming apps recognizes the features and prevents the streaming ability. Also this radio is truly designed around Android phones so the IPhone is supported but that may also be cause of the performance issue as well. The Radio also has accessory supports such as rear camera and front camera that can also serve as dash cams! You really have too many features at your service for me to remember it all! For installation I would recommend you purchase a install kit from crutchfield as this will ensure this headunit works with your specific vehicle instead of a universal kit this radio has to include. Audio enhancement and Customization is a huge plus for the advanced tuner but there are the traditional presets available. In closing you will be spending thousands to obtain 3/4 of the features this provides so this will be money well spent!

I got rid of the Axxera radio which came with my motorhome. The screen was small and dificult to operate. I did a lot of research and finally decided to purchase an Atoto S8 Ultra Pro headunit. That was one of the best upgrades I have done for my RV. This unit has a huge 10.1 floating screen. It is very bright, crystal clear with large icons. I can finaly operate the radio, map, phone and other apps while driving. I was able to adjust and tilt the screen to have all the controls right at my finger tips. I have a hotspot in my motorhome so I am using the radio as a big Android tablet. WiFi, bluetooth works great. The unit comes with microphone, GPS antenna, WiFi antenna, additional USB cables. You can download any app you like while traveling. I have not discovered 90% of things this radio can do. You would have to spend a lot more money on Kenwood, Alpine, Pioneer etc. and I am not sure these units would have half of features Atoto S8 Ultra Pro has. I highly recommend this radio.
