I used Ernie Balls for years then for some reason transitioned to D-Addario on one of my guitars. They are nice strings with a bright sound, but I find they don't last as long as the EB Super Slinky strings, and prefer the latter overall for feel and my style of playing. Of course all that is highly subjective so it doesn't mean much. Any new set of strings is better than the set you're removing, and I can see why some people would favor D'Addario. I just installed them on. So far they feel very slick and smooth. Make sure to stretch your stings after installing to maximize being in tune. G B E stings feel like they are coated with some kinda smooth material but I can be wrong because I oiled up my guitar before putting on the strings. Even if they are coated with something they play smooth and so far I like how they feel. Lengthwise they are good too. As I was adjusting the strings I heard a crack and thought one string broke but so far everything is intact. The packaging was super easy to understand, it came with color coded strings and basically told which string goes where. ... show more

The strings themselves are OK, but "high strung" tuning and "Nashville" tuning are NOT the same thing. A high strung set should have a normal G string rather than the octave string used in Nashville tuning. If d'Addario is going to label this set as both, they need to include the extra G string in the set. ... show more

D'Adarrio might cost a few bucks more than most of their competitors, but you're getting quality and a sound that will make you smile everytime you string up again. I've been a loyal D'Addario fan for over 20 years and they are always my Go-To for strings for any gauge I might need or want to try out. These strings are perfect for metal/rock/jazz and detuned tunings like drop C. Also, their customer service is amazing and their loyalty program is awesome since you can earn points for free strings or other music related items.
