  • Perfect for Ibanez Mikro
Color: Original Version
Coated strings give less treble as well as finger noise when sliding. If you're going for old school sit in the pocket sounds these are a fine option. I'm not a string snob other than I know I like flats on bass. I'm a rock guitarist and just want to lay down bass lines as opposed to really making it pop. And the Ibanez Mikro is so much easier than a 34" scale bass and it still sounds great. I even tuned down to D with these with no trouble. It's a bit loose so don't bang it too hard. I didn't love the strings that came with it new. ... show more

  • Down with the flatness
Color: Original Version
It's been years since I used flatwound bass strings. But watching a few videos about them, I really dug the vintage, flat sound. So when this warehouse deal popped up, I ditched the roundwounds I just bought and took the FW plunge. I gotta say I liked the easy installation of these and the sound. The bass is a newer Gretsch G2202, and having the strings in a shortscale length and with the fabric wrapping on the ends really made a difference. ... show more

  • Best for the Hofner violin Bass
Color: Original Version
Big improvement from the LaBella strings I had on it before. The strings brought back the bass on the E-string. Also the steel bridge used to go monophonic and would make the bass sound like a steel guitar with some wicked feedback. But now with the new strings it sounds the way a bass should. Clean and punchy! ... show more

  • D'Addario Chroms are my jam
Color: Original Version
I have an acoustic guitar, two electric guitars, and two basses. All have Chromes on them. This set went on my short-scale 4-string, a Warmoth 30" kit. It has a Gotoh strings-thru-the-bridge type bridge, and the string length is perfect. The silk starts just past the nut. As for the sound, they are AWESOME. The bass has the EMG Geezer Bulter passive P-Bass split humbucker, and sounds really nice. I HIGHLY recommend these strings. ... show more

  • Awesome upgrade for Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar SS bass!
Color: Original Version
Bought these for my Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar SS bass guitar. Excellent upgrade! The new strings are a bit thicker than the stock strings (fender 5250 SS), which gives slightly less wobbly string vibrations on the lower strings. This also makes them take a tiny bit more effort to hit/pick. These strings are MUCH smoother to the touch, and very comfortable to play on. They are so smooth that you can no longer feel the fret wires below the string as you slide your finger around (which you may view as a Pro or a Con depending upon your preference). The un-amped string sound has much less rattle, and you don't hear that zipper-like sound as you slide your finger up and down the fretboard. It's hard for me to notice a difference in sound, other than the lowest string is less wobbly now, which I really like. Aesthetically the strings look superb. The string ends are 4 different colors as opposed to all gold plated. They have some blue thread wrapping that covers the strings above the nut, and below the bridge saddles. (see pics). ... show more

  • Strings that make you sing.
Color: Original Version
Malachi has a hard time picking out strings for his bass. The good thing is….Amazon remembers what Malachi likes. The smooth feel of the double round wound strings is the ultimate climax of the foretold future. Or is it untold? I just don’t know.

  • Perfect strings for a short scale Jaguar bass..
Color: Original Version
My ss Jaguar bass doesn't like round wounds, in any gauge, but absolutely loves these light chrome flats.. great string to string balance for volume and tone.. setting intonation is easy (no weird overtones to throw off the tuner).. slick feel without the stickiness that can be felt on some flats.. and just stiff enough to tame the floppiness of the E string, while still being soft enough to get decent vibrato and bends.... 10/10 ... show more

  • I love em, my fingers love em, and my Gretsch loves em!
Color: Original Version
Prior to purchasing my Gretsch G2220 Electromatic Junior Jet II Bass, I did a fair amount of research and learned that the factory setup included standard long scale strings, cut down to fit the short scale neck. When the bass arrived, the first thing I did after discarding the packing materials was to replace the strings with the D'Addario flatwounds. They fit perfectly and help augment the "Gretsch Sound" I was looking for. They also allowed me to lower the action of the strings for better playability. Heck, I've only been playing for less than a year and I can really tell the difference! Thank you D'Addario! ... show more
