  • Works perfectly
If you don’t install it wrong (as I bang my head against the wall) this filter does exactly that - it filters. And does it well. Takes nasty flavors of chlorine and other nastiness out of the drinking water.

  • Very clean, fresh water. Low Flow.
I connected this to the cold water supply of my faucet before the water softener. I have VERY high iron and sulfur in my well water and this filter turns it into clear, fresh water with no detectable odor. It lasts for a very long time and just gets a bit slower with flow after a few months use. It has a flow restrictor built in and it takes probably 2 minutes to fill a gallon jug at 30 or 40 psi. This is a good feature in my experience since the other filters I tried without restriction worked for only a few days before forming channels through them where the unfiltered water would get through. If you need faster flow with this level of filtration, you will need to get a larger model or perhaps run multiple filters in parallel. I like this mounted filter much better than the popular pitcher based filters. It's cheaper in the long run too. ... show more

  • Good filter. New version has low water flow rate.
As several others have pointed out, the newer revision of this filter has a very small outlet hole in the top that reduces the water flow to about 1/3 of that of the unfiltered water flow. My best guess is that this was added to allow the filter to qualify for the level 2 filtration value. I am primarily trying to get chlorine out of the city water, so I drilled a 3/16th hole to replace the one that was present. Now I get more than 80% of the water flow that I did before the filter was added and I still have no chlorine taste in the water. Note: these filters have to be run for several minutes after initially installed to get the grey gunk that is used to line the inside (carbon, I assume) out of them. ... show more

  • Not all labs/inspections reliable
Unless you have your water tested by professionals routinely--and who does that?--you can't tell how effective a water filter is by looking at it. And some labels and "laboratory" claims are a ruse. I tried to check into some of the laboratory claims of some of the popular brands, including Chinese made filters. None of them were open about a legitimate laboratory that I could verify their claims. But I've known Culligan for decades. They actually do what their claims state. I know I can rely on them. It's worth the money because I want to filter my water. Many of the other filters seem to be selling pretend peace of mind with meaningless stamps of approvals. I could have pretend peace of mind for free. Decades back, I checked-out such things for a living. Now, it's just my opinion. I use a cheap 5 micron filter for all incoming water, then a Culligan half-micron filter under-sink for drinking water--in addition to running drinking water through a Brita filter pitcher. Think we're good. ... show more

  • I wouldn't buy another one.
This was for the under sink filter in our RV but after installing this cartrage our water pressure was very low when I remove it the pressure is fine. We have a filter on the inlet hose for the RV but I thought this would catch what got past that one. These things are expensive for what they are and now I think I'll just remove this whole filter as it's too much trouble and definitely not worth the price. This cartrage must be defective, there's nothing wrong with the plumbing in the RV and pressure is fine without it. ... show more
