40 years ago I purchased a 13 cup Cuisinart fp and loved it. The motor is still strong but the bowl no longer locks to the cover. I decided to consider a smaller version of my first unit and finally chose the 8 cup version ordered from Amazon warehouse. It was nothing like my first powerful, heavy fp but I assembled it anyway. It was then that i noticed that the attachment post wobbled. I believed that I had received a defective unit but call the Cuisinart help line to confirm my suspicion. I was informed that this unit's attachment post is supposed to wobble a bit to prevent breakage. I washed the unit parts per instructions, poured in my ingredients, and prepared to lock the bowl to the cover. To my happy surprise Cuisinart had improved the unit's locking mechanism which now means this unit should last far into the future. Almost A Blender

This is the first food processor I've bought for myself. I'm a line cook so I would think the low setting and the high setting would perform vastly different than each other. Hopefully the low setting would act like the "on" setting in a commercial robotcoupe food processor. Let me tell you what... this thing could fly if you asked it to. The low setting is so fast that it could almost be a blender on ten. The high setting... the high setting will pulverize anything you can think of. Obvioulsy it won't be smooth but, it will definitely destroy it. I'm a little dissapointed as i was looking for something that would spin at a lower speed and a higher one, unfortunately I think this might be too fast in general for my uses. In addition to this. If you've placed around 2 quarts of any liquid, the top will leak as the liquid hits the walls and escapes through the seams. No biggie but pain in the ass to clean the base. ... show more

Shreds, slices, mixes - everything you want from a food processor. Plastic bowl feels solid and like it will last. Easy to clean - best if you rinse immediately after use or fill with water. Blades are sharp so be sensible. I made a two pocket fabric pouch to hold disc blades. Wish it came with something like that. Definitely glad I bought this food processor ... show more

Reliable but loud countertop chopper

This small and reliable 4-cup food chopper makes quick work of pesto, salsa, hummus, etc. It chops nuts, emulsifies liquids, and generally does everything you need from a small-ish countertop chopper. The base is easy to wipe down and the cup/lid/blades go into the dishwasher (top rack only). If this machine were just a few decibels quieter, I would have rated it five stars. I tried a few different food processors before buying this one, they all either fell short or broke/ stopped working. I using this everyday a few times a day and it a game changer for me and my family. The only problem I had at first was the locking features. You have to make sure the blade is in and the bucket (for lack of a better word) is locked in before the lid with lock into place. ... show more
