This is the 3rd time in the last 12 years that I have purchased this exact model of espresso machine. I use this machine until it usually drops dead at around 5-6 years, of hard use. This is a manual machine. One knob that turns left/right. The only thing that disappoints me about this machine is that I probably won't be able to get another one when it craps out on me in 5 years. Those works great, I get coffee out and I make coffee in. The difference is mostly the coffee. Save yourself like $9800.00 and tip the barista when you go out.

For its price, this is a great entry-level home espresso machine. It's fairly compact, and it extracts espresso just fine. The few problems I had when I first got it were down to grind and moisture content, and now that I have those dialed in, I get good, consistent espresso pours every time. It suffers a little on the frothing/foaming/steaming side. The steam wand is shorter and tighter against the side of the machine than I'm used to, and the steam pressure isn't the greatest. It's capable of great cappuccino foam, but not really being able to swirl my frothing pitcher and the lower (than I'm used to) steam pressure makes coaxing out perfect, silky, thick latte milk a challenge. I might be rusty, but I never had problems with more powerful machines at work. Overall, at this machine's price point, I'm satisfied. It's a very good, affordable, daily-driver home espresso machine that I'll gladly use til it dies and it's time for an upgrade. ... show more

Bought a refurb and the area around the filter holder wouldn't seal so grounds would leak out from the outside of the body where the filter holder engages so it was more than just the filter holder not sealing. Tried a bunch of different grinds leaked every time. The filter holder also sat a little loose. Not sure how much of this is due to the refurb and how much can be attributed to overall poor quality. ... show more

I''m generally very happy with this espresso maker. The only problem is that there is no slide lock to keep the filter basket in place when emptying the used coffee grounds. The filter basket falls into my waste basket The instructions says use the "slide lock". There is no slide lock.
