I LOVE this food processor after having used it at friends’ houses and in cooking classes, but when mine arrived it had a slight material defect on the housing base where the bowl locks in to the housing base (see photos). I thought it might be merely cosmetic, so I used the processor a couple times and it works to perfection. BUT! Small pieces of black plastic are flaking away from the defect area and my concern is that the whole unit will break down after repeated use. No bueno. I ordered a replacement unit from Amazon that arrived today, and it has the SAME defect! This is one of the drawbacks of online shopping: you can’t inspect merchandise before you buy it. The Cuisinart Custom 14 is the best food processor I’ve ever used, but quality control seems to be an opportunity for improvement, at least through Amazon. I’ll send back the second unit and hope Amazon’s next replacement is free from this defect. Otherwise I’ll return the unit for a refund and pay a few bucks more offline so I can inspect it before I buy it. ... show more

I purchased this product and it had been refurbished. There was a tiny scratch on the top rear left corner but it was $30 cheaper than a new one! I really don't care about the scratch frankly. I have been waiting to buy a full size food processor for years because they were really expensive. This made all the difference and I am happy, happy, happy! ... show more

It's a great product, except that the vertical metal post on the top's interlock mechasnism corrodes in dishwasher. So, Cuisinart should use stainless steel, and we owners will have to wash the top by hand.

I’ve used cuisinart fps for 40 yrs. I just purchased the 14 C DFP-14N. I initially had difficulty figuring out how to assemble it because: Every other cuisinart I’ve ever seen/used has the feed tube on the same side of the bowl as the handle…except this one. The feed tube is directly opposite the handle (at 12 and 6 o’clock) Very counterintuitive and the photo on the box and manual are misleading—and look as if this is like the previous models. So be careful when you go to assemble this!! This design/features are most like my first DCL 10, which lasted over 25 yrs. Im hoping this is better quality than the last 2 I’ve had (plastic of bowls was defective and disintegrated and locking tabs splintered or broke off in 12-18 mo). Fingers crossed! ... show more
