  • Cannot share remote wire
I wanted to share my experience in case it helps anyone running into a similar issue. I’m running two amps — one for subs and one for mids and highs. Both amps were originally sharing the same remote wire coming directly from the stereo. When I installed a universal bass knob, I connected it to that same shared remote wire. However, the amps wouldn’t power on. At first, I thought the knob might be defective. After checking with a multimeter, I realized the wire was only sending about 3V back to the amps — not the 12V needed to power them up. To fix the issue, I ran separate remote wires from the stereo: • One wire goes from the stereo to the universal knob, then to one of the amps. • The other amp gets a direct remote wire connection from the stereo. After setting it up this way, everything worked perfectly — both amps are now getting a full 12V signal. So, heads up: it seems the universal knob doesn’t play well when sharing the remote wire between multiple amps. ... show more

  • Better than your amps Boost knob
I was a somewhat skeptical the sound would reduce in volume or quality before I purchased but neither of those fears came true, this thing is great. The voltmeter seems accurate but the hole in the side has a pot to allow you to calibrate it, if needed. The knob is not loose, it has a "dead zone" where it doesn't turn the control its attached to. It will definitely not get turned by loud music or bumps. The power LED is ridiculously bright, and I knew that from the reviews, so I hid it inside of a 1-din pocket with a flip-up door, available from Subaru for Foresters but made to work in my WRX. I like that it says "On" when powering up and "Off" when powering down, either by ignition or by the button on the dial. I pulled it open and was surprised to see its chip controlled on a high quality PCB. The wires are tiny and the RCA's aren't the best in the world but they do what they need to do. All of the wires are on JST type connectors to attach them to the PCB so I could probably replace all of them if I wanted to. I got a 4 wire connector that had matching wire colors and put that on the end, soldered and shrink wrapped. The car side of the connector was soldered into the wiring harness and the remote wires were crimped, being assembled in the car. I used a short 1.5' RCA to go to the radio. Makes for a very slick knob that does everything its intended to very well. ... show more

  • Good
Works good as a bass knob, I don’t have the voltmeter hooked up yet

  • Works, probably better out there.
Before installing this I was using the Rockford Fosgate Punch bass knob for the power series amps. Everything worked fine and sounded great, just didn’t have very much high end since the knob is a steep boost at 45 hz. Figured this would solve my problem, and had a digital voltage readout, which makes it easier to detect more minute clipping. After installing this, yes with the knob clicked to the on the on position, I was getting 4.52 volts at the end of my original remote turn on run, that I spliced into this knob. Turns out, that’s enough for an Epicenter to turn on, not a Power T1500, or a Punch 400x4. So I overnighted a PAC signal delay thing which ramps up voltage or current of a low level line, I.e. my “new” remote, to a usable amount of voltage and current. After installing it, viola works perfect. Didn’t check voltage, but the amps all turn on and stay on. A bit annoying, probably could’ve gotten a nicer knob if I was gonna have to spend about $70 on this one, plus getting it to work right. Only other complaint, the knob doesn’t feel smooth as you turn it like the RF knob. ... show more

  • Not Impressed. Great Idea Poorly Executed.
Would not buy again. Switched from a Skar Audio bass knob and will be switching back. The Skar Audio knob is metal and the know itself feels tight when turned. This one however feels plastic and cheap. The knob turns very easy, not tight like the other one. This may be a matter of personal taste though. Also the knob does not seem to be fully linear. The first half of the knobs range barely makes any audible difference while the second half of the knob makes a lot of difference. The Skar audio knob was completely linear across the knobs entire range. Biggest issue is the voltmeter, which is the whole reason I got this knob in the first place. It is off by almost 1V. My voltage will read 14.1v on my head unit, my multi-meter, and my cars ECU. But this will display anywhere from 13.1 to 13.5. Odd thing is I have it connected to the same line as the head unit. I assumed the head unit was wrong but after further testing everything reads the same except this bass knob. Complete waste of $30. Also have had issues where it gets stuck displaying "Off" or "On". or the voltmeter just wont turn on at all at times. I know I may have just received a defective unit being my first experience with CT Sounds I will stay away in the future. *Update* Voltmeter starting working normally again, still wrong but working. Worked for maybe a week and is now completely dead. This thing is garbage. Will be removing once the heat lets up... *Second Update* Voltmeter started working again and then stopped. It now will not turn off and displays random characters. Knob also came off. Easy fix, I know. But should not have to be fixing anything. Thing is garbage. Get a quality bass knob and voltmeter. Was a nice concept but they either use garbage components or employ terrible engineers. Avoid this garbage and save some money. ... show more
