  • Good, but needs adaptor for espresso pot
Color: Portable Butane Camping Stove with Carry...
I bought this camp stove so that I could make coffee in the morning and dinner at night while camping. It is plenty powerful and fits the bill. Overall great quality, durable, and as advertised. Looks super cute too. However there is one aspect that I personally consider a flaw. I don't know how common this is for camp stoves so a heads-up for first time users. If you want to use a Moka pot (stovetop espresso maker), you will need to purchase what's called a gas ring reducer. No it's not Prep H, it's a cast iron piece that fits over the burner and makes it small enough to use your camping coffee pot, otherwise it won't stand up. I don't know if Cuisinart sells these, I had to look for one here on the good ol' A to Z and it cost about 10 bucks. It would be really helpful if Cuisinart recognised this issue and either reduced the size of the burner or included an adaptor with purchase. In the meantime it's easy to find the adaptor and besides that, this is a fantastic little stove which I really do recommend. Amazon is asking me to comment on the smell. I don't know, smells... like butane? and whatever you're cooking? Also the heat. Stove hot. There you go. ... show more

  • Easy to use and compact but NOT eligible for return
Color: Portable Butane Camping Stove with Carry...
I decided I didn't need this because i already have propane. I tried to return this as soon as it arrived but I wasn't able to return it. Be aware of the policy before you make the purchase. Since I had to keep it I tried it and ended up really liking it. I've already used it 3 times so I can recommend it. ... show more

Bought for when the power goes outs. Tried it out. Works well. Easy to use. Really wish the case was not so flimsy. But for the price would recommend.

  • Useful Portable Butane Stove for Outdoor Cooking and Disaster Preparedness. Secret S'mores Stove
Color: Portable Butane Camping Stove with Carry...
This review is for the CUISINART Portable Butane Stove with Carrying Case. I received a free taxable sample of this stove to review while gearing up for a camping trip. The portable stove measures 13 3/8" wide, 11" deep, and 3 1/2" high. A rack/grate with support arms occupies most of the area on top of the stove and adds another 1" to the overall height when the support arms are facing up. Both the stove and the rack are constructed of a glossy painted metal with a combined weight of 1424 grams which doesn't include the weight of the butane canister. The accompanying plastic carrying case is a basic two-piece black plastic case that is hinged at the back and has two flip latches on the front to keep the top and bottom halves from opening. The case is of acceptable thickness but not rugged, and the case does make it easier to store and carry around the stove. Other than the glossy red color of the stove (and even then), there is nothing to distinguish this particular portable stove from other portable butane stoves. The form factor of this stove is identical to your basic portable butane stove with a two-sided grate, a side compartment for the butane canister, a mechanical lever which slides the butane canister and engages the canister with the gas valve, and a gas valve control knob that generates an electric spark when the knob is twisted to the "ON" position. The grate measures 8" square and there is 10 3/4" between the slightly raised ends of the four support arms that should support most pots, pans, and mini griddles. You can probably use larger items such as full-sized griddles so long as you are aware of potential stability issues and the fact that the burner won't provide coverage beyond a certain distance. One other minor thing to note is that the burner has eight concentric holes versus some other burners which have other variations such as four clusters of three holes or four pairs of two holes. Note: there is an internal metal shield attached to the lever that serves as an additional safety measure by preventing the canister from being engaged when the support arms on the grate are facing down. Although there is nothing to prevent you from operating the stove without the grate, the support arms on the grate provide the necessary clearance between the burner and a pot versus dangerously placing the pot directly onto the burner. Setup and operation of the stove is a fairly straightforward exercise which involves placing a butane canister into the side opening of the stove, flipping the grate so that the support arms are facing up, pressing down on the lever to engage and lock the butane canister in place, and twisting the knob to the "ON" position to ignite the butane. The standard butane canister can be obtained from your local hardware store and in general should last a little over an hour. From experience, it takes about 8-10 minutes to get water boiling in a 2L pot and the overall heat output is good but sometimes needs to be protected from the wind. Overall, the stove is quite stable even when slightly propped up on one end to compensate for the tilt of the underlying surface or picnic table. So far, my favorite use with this stove has been with a mini griddle or pan for sunny side up eggs and pancakes when camping. Besides camping, I like having this portable stove on hand for disaster preparedness and as a firepit substitute for backyard S'mores. All in all, this CUISINART portable butane stove is well-built and easy to operate. I recommend this as a good option for a versatile camping stove and to have on hand for disaster preparedness. ... show more

  • My second one - essential for a disaster kit
Color: Portable Butane Camping Stove with Carry...
I always keep one of these in my hurricane emergency kit, but a friend's house burned down and I gave him my other one so he had a place to cook while he was in forced camping mode while he fought with his insurance company. I'll never be without one, the fuel is reasonable and widely available.
