  • It talks me through it!
I know it's kinda a gimmick, but I love that my rice cooker talks to me as it does it's thing. First I tried some really old quinoa/sprouted rice mix. Lots of steam and strange smells. When I opened it up it looked dark and weird. Put a little soy on it and ate. Wow...delicious. Wolfed down 2 large bowels. Meanwhile I had fast ordered a large bag of NIshiki premium white rice, which finally showed up, so I had to make that also. Rice comes out perfectly done, but no sign of burning. A great change over the much cheaper programmable rice cooker I have been using from Costco. And much faster, as well. The rice was very sticky and kinda difficult to fluff up, but I really didn't wait long to eat it. I am sure there is a learning curve as to how much water for what result. But the basic results are great. It's just a matter of tweaking it. BTW for the quinoa/sprouted rice mix, I set it on mixed rices in mode settings. That seemed to work well. Setting the voice: this was a little tricky, but here is the key...the manual says to push mode 12 times, but it also says to go into mode you have push it for 1 second or longer. Be sure to count that 1 second initial push as one of the 12. Then you will be at the point to push the menu selection buttons to number 2 and get the english version. Then just push the set button once. It is helpful to hear the english voice confirm what you are doing. So not totally a gimmick. So far I am very pleased with this unit. I got the red/black model, which has a nice shiny enamel like look. The sterilization mode is great. I did it before the first cook, and then after each cook. It is not really a self clean feature, but I found that doing it after, loosened the residue and made washing very easy. The pot is hot, but the included handles cooled down fast enough to lift it out without pads, pretty quickly. Initially I was torn between this one and the Z model, whose bread maker I love. I am happy with my choice. ... show more

  • First pressure rice cooker
This is my first pressure rice cooker. I never dreamed of spending this much money on a rice cooker but I noticed that the Korean restaurants I frequented served rice that had a special texture. My coworker confirmed that they use a pressure rice cooker. The texture of the white rice is phenomenal but where this cooker really shines is the GABA setting. This setting has allowed my family to convert from strictly white rice to almost strictly brown rice. Yes, it cooks brown rice that well that my family has started to love it. One nice thing about this brand is that they use the same quality nonstick pot in almost all of their cookers which leads me to believe they are on to a good product. Other companies offer a variety of pots; why make me guess on the quality? I don't regret spending the money on this cooker. I expect it to last a good long time and cook hundreds if not a thousand pots of rice. ... show more

  • Cuckoo is the best :)
This product was recommended by my Korean friend as cuckoo is most widely used rice cooker brand in korea. Pricey (I'm picky and I wanted the black and red only lol), but well worth it. I had cheap Walmart brands and my rice never comes out as it suppose, always disappointed so i stopped having rice for years. On my first try using cuckoo, my rice was beyond perfect! It was with old rice also.. It came out sticky, soft and flavorful. I forgot about it for hours and left it on 'keep warm'.. And it was still moist and I ate the rest. It was easy to clean. Shipping was fast, i expected in a week and got it in 2 days. luckily I live in California and it was shipped in California. ... show more

  • Rice storage over time.
Good tasting rice even after making 24 hrs plus later. 48 hrs starts to taste slightly different IMO. Great product but many wouldn’t spend hundreds on a rice cooker. Recommended if you eat rice every day or every other day then well worth it IMO.

  • Perfect Rice with Cuckoo Induction Pressure Rice Cooker
The Cuckoo Induction Pressure Rice Cooker cooked up perfect rice. We found premium-grade (koshihikari) rice from Japan at a local store and cooked sweet, fluffy rice, with glistening individual grains. When using lower grade rice, the rice was fluffier than we ever cooked in a lower cost rice cooker. A batch of mixed white-brown rice also cooked well in the 'mixed' mode. The removable rice pot is made of heavy duty (steel?) and the cooker itself is very well designed and constructed. Be sure to order and English-speaking version, as there are versions that speak only Korean. ... show more

  • Cook time is way long!!
I am giving 3 stars cause of the cook time... Pros- Rice taste was good and cooked rice stayed fresh for few days. Cons- takes too much time to cook rice. - I was making little less than 3 cups of rices and the cook time was 55 min. I would not have bought this model if I knew the cooker takes this long to cook rice. ... show more
