I use a lot of tarps and have different makes and sizes from 7 to 10 mil thickness. This CSMEN tarp is advertised at 7 and 11 mil but the one I received had no label to indicate its thickness or size. Judging from my other tarps this one feels like it's in the middle of the range, but it does have reinforced corners and a cord running through the outer edges that should help durability when tied down in windy conditions.. If used under the full sun I believe it will degrade quicker due to its black color and items underneath will heat up to a higher temp. I have the best luck with the silver reflective color tarps. This is a good price compared to my local store. I love that it’s plain black. It blends into the landscape more. It has grommets so you can tie it down. So far we have used it to keep outdoor furniture dry, and it’s worked well.

Our area gets a decent amount of snow and this 5'x6' tarp should handle covering a piece of outdoor furniture perfectly. At 11 mils thick, this is a medium weight PE tarp that may or may not withstand year-round use; too soon to tell. I like that the corner grommets are reinforced, allowing a cord to thread through without the holes wearing out prematurely. This is also perfect for laying on the ground under sleeping bags or for painting projects and is very affordable.     • Good Medium Thickness Tarp
I am using this tarp to lay down on the ground for when I'm painting and doing arts and crafts to protect my carpet. It is waterproof and it has caught any of my paint spilled so far. It is not as thick as the tarps we use for other purposes such as covering the furniture on our porch when it snows, or for camping. I feel it may only last 1 or maybe 2 seasons with the amount of snow that we get here. We also do lots of outdoor stuff where we use tarps. We often backpack for a few miles and find a spot to enjoy primitive camping. When doing this, we need something lightweight and non-bulky as we are carrying everything we're going to use on our backs. I have other tarps that work better for this purpose. While not as thick as others, it's also not super thin either. It's a medium thickness. The grommets could be better quality, but for what I'm currently using it for this won't matter for me. Overall, I think this is a good quality tarp at this price point and would recommend depending on how heavy duty you need is to be. ... show more
