  • A great start to this series!
Under the Mistletoe is a collection of five Amazon-Original holiday-themed stories published this month, penned by well-known authors in the romance genre. Cruel Winter With You by Ali Hazelwood is novella 1/5. Jamie Malek has always shared a love/hate relationship with her best friend’s younger brother, Marc Compton, and the last time they saw each they did not part on good terms. So, when a snowstorm leaves them stranded together on Christmas Eve, old resentments flare, and sparks fly. Can Jamie and Marc resolve their differences this Christmas? Cruel Winter With You was my first book by Ali Hazelwood and I was really impressed by her writing and can’t wait to read more by her. This one was a sexy open-door romance but tastefully done. I loved that thorough backstories were provided for the characters relationship given the short length of the story. Maybe Marc was kind of obsessed with Jamie, dropped too many f-bombs for my taste, and did the author really have to make him a billionaire? But it was supposed to be a Christmas fantasy, so I’m not too bothered it wasn’t entirely realistic. ... show more

  • Short, sweet and relatable
I’m definitely adding Ali Hazelwood to my list of cozy/ comfort authors. I can’t explain exactly what I loved about she told this love story but I loved how down to earth it was. Apart from the fact that the mmc was a tech billionaire ( which honestly he didn’t need to be ) it was such a lovely love story. One beautiful thing the relationship between the mc’s is their journey to discovering their feelings for each other. I loved the moments in time where the mmc explicitly told her how he felt. His big love declaration was so sweet. I loved how he let her know that he knew her flaws and all and loved every part of her. ... show more

Yo me entretuve mientras duró. Lo que más me gustó fue poder leer en inglés, que es uno de mis propósitos este 2025. ... show more

  • Adorable short read.
This short Read was absolutely adorable. One of my Favorite troupes is when the Man plays the Long game when they finally come together and everything was worth the wait and heart ache. It was sad to see how little self esteem she had and would constantly people please and they her own father was one of the people taking advantage of her kindness. I love how he instantly came to protect her and rescued her by setting boundaries for her. Loved this story which I knew I would because of course anything Ali Hazelwood rights is Magic! ... show more

  • An emotional tug that's not overly written or poorly executed.
*Cruel Winter* by Ali Hazelwood highlights exactly why it’s important to know when to share and when to STFU. Every word feels deliberate, creating a concise, engaging story about the stubborn moments we all recognize. It’s a fun, relatable journey of long-time friends navigating emotions that lead to a satisfying, heartwarming conclusion—a perfect little holiday treat. Sure, some might argue it could use more detail in places, but it’s a digestible tale of true love finally getting its chance. It embraces a perfect dose of Christmas magic that doesn’t feel like some pretend delulu-land fantasy. I will be looking for more from Ali Hazelwood. ... show more

  • Short & Sweet
Jamie has known Marc literally his whole life. She's always had a soft spot for him & he's always been head over heels for her (even though she's clueless/in denial about it). This is your classic best friend's brother with a touch of miscommunication trope. It's a cute, quick read that's surprisingly emotional. I thought this was an excellent little novella, but it was way too short! I would have loved a few more chapters at the end and maybe even an epilogue. 😅 ... show more

  • Ali Hazelwood does it again
I don’t understand how Ali does it. I’ll preface this review by saying I had no idea this was a short story but she did not leave me disappointed. I still got to fall in love with the characters, they had depth and even with the limited number of pages I still felt like I knew them. The book didn’t feel rushed, the best part was she could have made this a full length novel. It’s almost as if I was reading a shorter version and still getting all the best parts. Definitely recommend! It’s not too long and it’ll leave you smiling, aww-ing, or both (like me). ... show more

  • Short Christmas Story
This was really cute and a touch of spicy. It was a short and sweet novella and I really liked it. This will make me look up more Ali Hazelwood books. I recommend it as a cute Christmas story! 🎄
