Caldera Releaf Neck Rest is an innovative, patented neck rest that provides a delightful lifting sensation by temporarily supporting the weight of your head.When your head remains in a static posture for a prolonged period of time, your neck and shoulder muscles often become tense. Releaf keeps your head and neck in good posture by supporting your head’s weight, which can be up to 12 pounds, allowing your neck and shoulder muscles to relax. It incorporates a patented flex-tension response that acts like a built-in spring to provide proper support for your head. This unique feature also allows Releaf to conform to the shape of your neck for a comfortable fit. Wrap Releaf around your neck and fasten the Velcro ends in the back. Make sure you can easily put both index fingers between Releaf and your neck. Leave enough room to breathe normally and feel comfortable.Centering: Place a finger on each side of Releaf’s chin indentation and center it under your chin.Final: Pull the lower edge of Releaf down to fit comfortably under your chin.     • I have used for several years and now have four of them.
I now have four of these - one each Black/Black and Jade/Black, and two Granite/Black. I bought my first one several years ago from an in-flight catalog; the other three are recent purchases from Amazon. I have had some neck problems since a traffic accident nearly 20 years ago, which have become worse over the last five years even with fusion of three vertebrae. The Caldera Releaf collar is Not A Medical Device, but they have given me more comfort than any of the medical device foam collars I have had over those years. It is an actual engineered product (not just a block of foam wrapped in scratchy fabric and approved by the regulatory agencies.) The Releaf collar is designed for sleeping primarily while seated or reclining, such as on an airplane flight. (That is why I bought that first one several years ago.) The collar is fairly stiff in the vertical direction, in order to support your head comfortably when sleeping in those positions. I works wonderfully for that purpose. I have found that it also provides comfort during activities such as driving, working at a desk, reading or similar activities. I have found that it is uncomfortable to wear when exercising or laboring (it gets very hot and sweaty) or while lying down (it presses on the side of my neck too much when I sleep on my side.) The hook-and-loop fastener has about five inches (127 mm) of range. Worn correctly, so you can slip two fingers between the collar and your neck, it should not restrict breathing PROVIDED you have the correct size. (For example, I wear a US 18-inch neck size dress shirt and a Medium is too tight for me.) I find this to be very comfortable when used as intended, much more comfortable than the medical device collars. It is also less bulky than the medical devices. I clean these in the normal cold or warm water laundry (no chlorine bleach, and With the hook-and-loop fastener closed!) and air-dry them. I highly recommend them for anyone who needs head support while flying or driving, and for certain other activities. ... show more

    • Sleep much better
I have a herniated c4/5 disk which has caused much discomfort with arm/hand numbness and neck pain while sleeping. I have tried several pillows and eventually found the best relief without a pillow. This little baby has caused me to enjoy pain free sleep since I received it. Make sure you get the large if you have a neck size of like..15" or more - (like most men). Another thing: The color bleeds like crazy so you can save lots of hassle by just washing the thing right away in hot water. I took it into the shower with me and in five minutes, had most of the excess dye removed. Funny, it didn't look any different at all. Another thing - remember to keep it a bit less than snug if you are going to lie down and sleep with it - the neck veins naturally distend when you lie down and can end up feeling strangled. If you are like me, just having it on a little less than snug will keep you head in a good position all night. Seems to wash well - which is good...because I imagine if it wasn't washed periodically, it would end up smelling like a sock. I'm glad I bought it..for the price it has been an awesome value for me. ... show more

I received my brace today, packaging was great no damage to the brace. Reading some of the comments I almost passed on the brace. I immediately put it on,went to my office and sat down in a good ergonomic chair. Folks it's working for me You can feel your back just adjust itself, I played around with setup and found a comfortable size for me . I'll post how it goes in a week or so. This is basically a foam cervical collar with nice looking fabric and stitching. Just wrap it around your neck and secure with the velcro closure. The fit should be snug, but not so tight that it slowly suffocates the life out of you. Once it's in place, I immediately feel the support in my head and neck. It's like a cradle for your cranium, and really does help take tension off my head's supporting muscles; neck, traps, shoulders. I have hemorrhaged disks, and sometimes just the weight of keeping my head upright causes a lot of pain. So that's when I grab for this thing and strap it on. It's certainly no miracle cure, but it does offer relief on those days when my neck pain is particularly bad. Kinda reminds me of those African neck stretching rings. Not so sure about the manufacturer claims that this is some fashionable accessory. If this is your idea of creating a "look" then you may need to rethink your idea of a fashion statement. However, it does look less clinical than a standard white cervical collar, and doesn't scream "whiplash!" It's just spandex over foam, with accent stitching. Looks good. Doesn't cost much. Offers good support. Just another prop to assist with your ailments. Happy I have it; not happy I need it. Like it better than an over the door cervical traction device. ... show more

I had read that a soft cervical collar like this could help with sleep apnea. After trying this collar I am quite impressed that it could make that much of a difference in keeping your airway open while sleeping at night. Although this neck collar was not designed for that purpose it does a great job of it. It's comfortable and easy to use. I am going to use it on my next long air flight too. I think it will work well to keep your head upright if you are trying to nap on the plane. ... show more
