This one punches above it's weight class. I'll admit that I was hesitant to buy a craftsman tool (it really feels like their quality isn't what it used to be) but, I couldn't be happier with this sander. I purchased the renewed version. The original packaging was smashed up pretty bad. But, the content was all in there perfectly and look perfectly brand new. I have been using it for about a week now with no issues. This sander seem to be identical to the dewalt version that I have but much more quiet. My dewalt is a few years old and was getting loud. The only thing I don't like about this craftsman orbital sander is the dust port. My shop-vac hose does not fit. As a matter of fact, I had to try multiple different sizes until I managed to force one adapter to fit. Other the dust port adapter being an Unusual size, I love this sander. It's the identical sander as the dewalt version.

I read a number of review for random orbit sanders, and decided I'd prefer the DeWalt; many of the other highly rated brands had patterns of problems in the reviews, and I wanted the 3 amp unit. I saved the DeWalt to a list, but when the time came to buy, it was not to be found. Not available online, not in stock in any local stores. Not sure why, but it had disappeared. Looking at reviews again, I discovered that this unit appeared to be the same product as the DeWalt (the version without speed control, which wasn't essential for my application), sold under the Craftsman brand. It performs well, does exactly what I want; appears to be a quality tool, plus a bit of nostalga factor with Craftsman. And it was somewhat cheaper. And all that said - the consistant issue with this unit mentioned in reviews was it doesn't connect to a 1 1/4 vacuum hose. It just took a moment to wrap a couple good sized rubber bands round the hose to my shopvac and insert it into the sander. It holds in place and creates an adequate seal. It's easily solved without time or expense.

This is the first Craftsman electric tool I had where I didn't say "wish I would have spent more for Dewalt or Makita". This sander is almost identical to the Dewalt DeWalt DWE6421 version without variable speed. I used it to take my cabinets from Oak to painted so it got quite a workout. Never a whimper. It just cruised through everything I threw at it. I mean it is not all smooth and buttery with impeccable dust collection like a Festool etc but no reason to spend more for DIY.

I am an avid garage woodworker. I needed to replace an older Porter Cable sander. After doing online research I discovered that the Craftsman sander and the Dewalt sanders are one in the same. I chose the Craftsman because of the price difference. The sander works as expected. It has more power than my old sander. The added power makes for faster sanding between grits. The dust collection using the included bag works as well as any. Connecting the sander to a standard vacuum will require the use of the dewalt adaptor also sold on Amazon. Nothing negative to say about this simple working tool. I am happy with my choice and would recommend this to others.

Couldn't DIY without it! Not too heavy. Used it on closets and cabinets before repainting. Captures a lot of dust making clean up easier. Great value and shipped quickly! Good size both sanding pads and for hand held.

There is really nothing bad about this sander. It has a good feel in your hand, with not a lot of vibration. All 5in pads work well on it any brand. The onboard dust collector works okay I'd say it captures about 50% of the dust. For a price point of $50 bucks or less if you look in the right place, you can't beat it. The only thing was when I first used it, I had to push down harder. Because it didn't feel like it was sanding at all. Once I did, then it started working great. I don't know if it was just operator error or not.
