This is an excellent binder / support belt. I have had back problems for decades and have quite a few braces of various shapes and sizes, but when I saw this I wanted to try it for those times I don't have any back pain but want to prevent it. Also, sometimes (like now) my weight is more than I wish and thought maybe a binder would act like an old-fashioned corset. Surprise! It does! (Well, it's lacking whale bones, but they're hard to come by these days!) I recommend following their sizing chart (follow their instructions; don't just order the size you think you are). The belt will be HUGE! Probably at least a foot longer than you need. But that's OK; it could be 20 feet long and you'd still be able to use it. You just wrap it around itself. It could literally run several laps around your belly and it would work fine; maybe better. My wife and I have two different size waists, and she tried this on and actually likes it too. Having it longer than you think is appropriate will make this a very useful binder for anyone in your household, now or later. So don't freak out that it's too long; it's not. The flip side of that, though, is you will do better with it if someone can help you put it on. Its effectiveness is determined by how tightly it's stretched, so with someone else helping, you can stretch it a lot tighter and certainly a lot easier. The other dimension is worth a brief discussion. I have a lot of back braces that are in the 6" to 9" width range, so I thought I'd try the 12" width with this. That's very wide, but it really is the right width for me. And my wife, who is 5" shorter than me (5'2"), actually likes the 12" width as well. She likes the shaping aspect of the binder. At this price, this is a good value for that purpose. I'm definitely happy with this binder and if I can pry it away from my wife, I'll use it. Otherwise, I'll order another for myself! * Overall Impression: -It's a good value for a nice, supportive, 3 row style, Velcro closure, elastic compressive waist and abdominal binder band. -However, it does run small. I would suggest ordering a size larger than you think you need to by the measurements in the listing. Especially if you are at the middle or higher end of the measurements listed. -I found the medium one (rated for 29-40 inch waists) would likely be too small if you're about 32 inches or larger in the waist. I have a 28 inch waist, and it fits but there's no way it could ever go from 35-40 inches. * Pros-what I liked and what worked well: -Good value for the quality and style. -3 row elastic (like 3 ace bandages sewn together but more compression.) The compression is the same in all areas and around the band. -Velcro closure. The Velcro can be placed anywhere on the band. (Note: You must remove the fabric strip off the Velcro end or it won't stick, once it's removed it will work normally.) -Covers the abdomen, ribs, lower back and waist area. -Comfortable to wear. -Moderate compression support. -No metal or plastic stays or supports, just elastic compression. -Available in 9 or 12 inch heights. -Lightweight. -Breathable material. -Instructions included. -Reclosable plastic storage bag included. * Cons-what I didn’t like and what didn’t work well: -They run smaller than expected on the size. I can wear the medium. But there's no way it will go up to 40 inches or fit someone with a waist that's size. I have a 28 inch waist and wouldn't think it would fit anyone over say about 32 inches. Even 35 inches would be too tight. They are fully Velcro attachable, so I'd suggest ordering a size larger than you think you need if you are at the mid or higher end of the waist measurement range. * Tips & Thoughts: -These work well for back and rib support as well. While I like and use binders and braces made for the back or ribs, I like styles like this as well made for the abdomen. They don't have metal in them and provide softer support and are more comfortable at times. -If you think the Velcro doesn't work right, there is a piece you have to remove first or it won't attach. It's a strip of Velcro over the attachment and once you remove it, it will work. You can keep it and put it back later or leave it off. I leave it off as I don't need it once it's removed. But you must remove it to use the Velcro attachment.

I ordered this adbominal binder in large. The large is very long but it was easy to cut off a few inches to make it work for me. The large size is approximately 52" x 12." The binder has a cover on the velcro attachment, so that needs to be removed prior to placement. I didn't read the instructions and didn't know this and tried in vain to attach it. The binder feels comfortable because it is light and moves with me. It is not bulky and I can wear it under clothing if I needed to. The 12" width of the binder is what helps to hide it under clothes. This binder has a strong velcro grip! When you take it off, the velcro will snag the fabric - not maybe, it will. This is proof of the good grip this velcro has and I know this abdominal binder won't detach while I have it on. The best part of this binder is the wide area it supports, but can be challenging to put on due to the larger width. I can't easily just wrap this binder around me and attach the velcro. I have to stand in front of a mirror to put this on. The velcro attaches quickly to the top of the binder before I am able to finish adjusting at the bottom of the binder, so I find myself attaching and reattaching to make it fit properly. Also, it has a tendancy to bunch up when sitting.
