This unit is near perfect for the hot summers. It performs exactly how I anticipated. Shocking how much cool air comes out of such a small package. It comes with a window kit that has everything you need for a vertical or horizontal window install. In my case, I installed a through-the-wall ventilation kit which I purchased separately. The unit cooled my ~250 sq. ft. bedroom from 80 F to 74 F in less than an hour. The build quality feels really solid and I reckon this unit will last a long time. It has different modes of operation: cooling, dehumidifying, fan only, and automatic mode. It features two fan speeds, a child lock/sleep mode, and a sleep timer. The remote controller has the ability to control all the same settings as the digital control panel on the unit. The ambient RGB lighting is also a nice touch that makes the unit stand out over others I've seen. Overall, I'm very satisfied with mine and would recommend this portable AC unit. EDIT: In regards to my ambiguity in the video as it relates to the water drainage, on page 14 in the manual it states that there is water recycling in the unit. I have been able to verify using a humidity sensor that this is true. ... show more

    • Very cold A/C. No setting to keep fan always on, or to turn off lights.
We are using this air conditioner in our van while we are hooked up to shore power. The air conditioning is very cold that comes out of this, which is great! It is almost too cold while it's running. The fan on low is pretty strong, and the fan on high is VERY strong. I wish there was one more setting of the fan that was even lower because of this. Also, I wish there was a setting to be able to keep the fan on always. Sometimes the fan stays on all the time (even when the cool A/C isn't going because it has reached the right temp) but sometimes the fan shuts off. This is unpleasant at night because of the major difference in sound that takes place when it turns on or off. Also, if the fan would keep running, it would continue to feel cooler when the A/C turns off, but because the fan sometimes turns off after the A/C has been off for a bit, it seems to feel hotter faster, before the temperature reaches the set temperature to kick the A/C back on. This would be fine if the A/C was consistent with the fan, but sometimes it stays on, sometimes it turns off. I believe this is for "energy efficiency" purposes, which doesn't make sense to me because the A/C is really the part that uses a lot of power, not the fan quite as much. Also, the lights bother me. There is no way to turn off all the lights. We've had to cover it with electrical tape and some cloth sitting on top at night when we're sleeping. ... show more

Worked great for about a month, now it needs to be drained of water daily to work which is not an easy task. Don’t care for the led lights either. Cooling ability decent. Takes a while to cool down small bedroom.

    • You'll need lots of duct tape
My apartment Heat/AC unit quit working in late Feb. Knowing that I would soon need AC, I ordered the Costway PAC 8000 on Feb 27, 2026, and it arrived March 4. It was well-packaged but very heavy. I installed it a couple of days later. Problems that I noticed right away include the length and width of the baffle plate; it was too short and not wide enough to fit properly in my window. I'm not mechanical, but I do have a large roll of duct tape, and I "fixed" the gaps using the tape. It isn't nearly hot enough for AC right now, so I ran the fan for a while. It works well but only has two speeds: medium and blasting me to the other side of my bedroom. I have run the AC only once, and only to see if it works. It did, for now anyway. My biggest problem is that the air exhaust pipe and the air exhaust adapter do not stay together, no matter how tightly you screw them together. Duct tape again. LOTS of duct tape to keep that romance from breaking up. You'll need more duct tape when they separate after you've installed them in the window. Remember, patience is a virtue. As for its attributes, it runs, the fan is keeping this frequently hot person cool, and the AC works. I cannot tell you if it will work when the temperature goes through the roof, nor if it will work after three months of hot weather. Since I only purchased it for one hot summer before I move, I'm not worried about its longevity, just its strength. Fingers crossed. Oh, and I personally don't mind the noise level.
