Description

The Trending Tropicals Collection: Elevate your home decor with exceptional new varieties representing some of the hottest houseplant varieties on social media. This plant is great for small spaces and tabletops. It does well in offices, kitchens, dining rooms, living rooms, bedrooms, and outside on a patio. Place Begonia Maculata in a spot that receives bright light (5 or more hours of sunlight. This plant prefers indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight may burn the plant. Water when the top 2 inches of the soil are dry (about once every 7 to 10 days) and be sure all excess water drains away. If the container does not have holes, use approximately 1 cup (for 6in diameter container) of water, adjust as needed for your environment. Do not let the plant sit in water or overly soggy soil. Height at arrival is approximately 14-Inches tall, measured from the bottom of the pot to the top of the plant. The Begonia Maculata delivers in a white, 6-inch diameter mixed material pot. To avoid water spillage, this container does not have holes. The plant is a moderate grower. Exact growth rate depends on the care provided and its environment. Give it a boost during the warm months of Spring and Summer with a general- purpose fertilizer that is formulated for house plants. Follow the instructions on the fertilizer package for the best use. When the plant out grows the current container, it is time to repot. To repot the plant, gently remove it from its current container and place it into a slightly larger container. Fill in any empty spaces with new and fresh soil and water thoroughly. Costa Farms plants are not intended for human or animal consumption. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

  • Plant Arrived with Root Rot. No Response from Costa Farms.
First of all, my raven ZZ arrived with dirt all over the leaves. Which I guess is understandable and can be ignored since I was a fool for buying live plants online that are shipped through UPS in the first place. One stalk arrived very yellow-looking and was a different color/texture than the rest of the plant. I felt the soil and it was still quite damp so I decided not to overwater it. A couple days later, I noticed the leaves start to become very dry, but the soil is still damp. I watered it one time after a week. The leaves started to drop and fall off completely within the next few days/week. Alarmed, I emailed Costa Farms with pictures of the plant I received, but received no response what-so-ever. And it is difficult to reach them by phone. I eventually took a look at the roots and discovered a strong case of root rot. This condition was definitely already present upon delivery since one of the stalks was yellowed and mushy-looking on day one. I also only watered it one time since delivery. I think the condition spread to the other roots. Sadly, I think this one will be extremely difficult or impossible to save. This is supposed to be one of the easiest plants to care for and it has not been that way. So after three weeks of waiting and no response, I decided to just request a refund through Amazon. It was granted. It pays to be a Prime member who buys from Amazon often. Saves a lot of headaches. ... show more

  • Beautiful Plant - Easy to grow
I picked up this exact same Costa Farms plant at HD....Ended up absolutely falling in love with it and went back to buy a few more....Unfortunately there were no more. Luckily (thank you Amazon) I found them here. Costa Farms plants are VERY well packaged. The soil is secured with a plastic film (like the kitchen wrap stuff) around the grower pot before being placed into the decorative cache pot. The decorative pot is then secured with a cardboard wrap to further secure the pot, soil and keep the base of the plant from shifting. Then, it is placed into a cardboard insert that secures the pot in place preventing it from moving. All that is put into the shipping box that is made of a nice sturdy cardboard. Now let's get to shipping---More specifically, how it is handled when it is shipped- ay, there's the rub! This is where it is a crap shoot. Will they treat my plant with aloha or not? I think it depends on who happens to be working the day your plant goes through their hands. There are the people that take pride in what they do-even though you will never see their hard work behind the scenes...they see the clear markings on the box and they know it is precious cargo for someone. And then, there is always that one turd that sees that it is a plant and get personal satisfaction from doing everything they can to destroy the contents. Case in point, I ordered one plant one day and then two more about two days later. The first plant arrived. Box appeared intact, but you could see soil sticking to the box tape-you could hear the disheartening sound of broken ceramic pieces inside. Opened the box and the plant looked like it had been dropped in a blender. THIS does not happen with ordinary handling. Upon closer inspection, you could see some dents in the corner on the bottom of the box...it looks like the box was probably dropped straight down so the flat side would hit the ground...it must have been done a few times...because the cache pot bottom looks like it was forced up into the plant and broke-the top of the cache pot basically switched placed with the bottom by breaking in half. ********************Now the second delivery of two plants in two separate boxes. (Key up the peaceful instrumental music here.) Perfect. Not a bit of soil out of place. Every. Single. Individual. Stalk. Was. Perfect. It was like I went to the store and picked it out myself. This plant is beautiful. Costa Farms is an excellent company. There is a chance that your plant will be handled roughly. Now it's your turn to decide to roll the dice. In the meantime, I am going to order a couple more. ... show more

  • From 4 out of 5 stars to 2 out of 5
Style: Thai Constellation Monstera Color: Self-Watering Plant Pot Size: 12-16 Inches Tall
UPDATED REVEIW: Beware of the root rot on these guys. A few days after my initial review I started to notice some dropping so came back to the reviews on this post. Although I didn’t see any others with a monstera Thai C. A lot of reviews say they had root rot. After depotting this guy, I too noticed the dreaded root rot… I decided to repot, without disturbing the root system in just orchids bark mix. The roots were pretty well established before the root rot so most of the soil was a fine coco blend. After about a week still more dropping so I took it out again. The root rot has resolved itself, however about 70-80% of the initial root ball is completely gone. Thankfully there are still a few strong roots. I washed the roots, trimmed the remaining dead roots off and repotted into a much smaller pot with a homemade chunky aroid mix. Fingers crossed I don’t loose any leaves and it lives! ******* It was packaged and shipped well. They added a heat pack to the shipment due to it being late November which was very nice. It’s honestly a beautiful Thai constellation monstera however, I do wish it was slightly more variegated but for the $30 price I’m happy with it. I’m only knocking 1 star due to the newest leaf which is the first fenestrated leaf looks like it was damaged during shipping. ... show more

  • Lovely plant, bad shipping!
Style: Lemon Meringue Pothos Color: Indoor Décor Plant Pot Size: 12-16 Inches Tall
The plant was delivered by UPS and the box was smashed on one side. When I opened it, it looked like the box had been shipped on its side or upside-down, as the plant was mostly out of the pot and there was soil everywhere! I had to repot it the best I could, so time will tell how it holds up! This was a gift for a friend who is currently in transitional care, so I'm glad I had it delivered to me -- she wouldn't have known what to do with it in that condition, and I would have been embarrassed about sending it! On the plus side, the plant is beautiful and healthy looking (so far!), the outer decorative pot is lovely, and I love the self-watering wick system -- a little difficult getting the inner pot out of the decorative pot though. ... show more
