Water it about once a week with approximately 1 cup. Ensure excess water drains. Adjust as needed for your environment. Never let Philodendron 'Birkin' sit in water or saturated soil. When dispatched, it’s about 15-inches tall, measured from the bottom of the pot to the top of the plant. Philodendron 'Birkin' is potted in a decor plant pot. To avoid water spillage, this container does not have holes. Philodendron 'Birkin' is generally a moderate grower, depending on environment and care provided. Boost growth in spring and summer with a fertilizer labeled for potted plants following the product’s instructions. When Philodendron 'Birkin' outgrows its current container, repot by gently removing it from its container and placing it in a 2-inch wider container. Fill with potting mix and water thoroughly. I purchased this plant one year ago. It arrived in a narrow tall box in perfect condition. It was not nearly as full or with as many leaves as the pic on Amazon showed but it was healthy and intact. I’ve included a pic of it now, 1 year later. I kept it in a window with afternoon sun, watered once a week and it started growing additional leaves. The growth was phenomenal . I was very pleased with how well this plant was prepared and protected for shipping. Upon opening the box the plant was easy to be removed yet it was in great condition. I removed the wrapping paper and placed in the very pretty pot that comes with it then set it on my table. I waited a day before I watered it just to give time to kind of settle. Imagine the giddy anticipation: I was bringing home two new plant babies, picturing their lush leaves brightening up my space. I ordered from C*sta F*rms, lured by the promise of a stately Snake Plant and a majestic Monstera. But excitement soon wilted into frustration, like a forgotten fern left in the sun. The website boasted impressive heights: a regal 1-2 foot Snake Plant and a towering 2-3 foot Monstera Swiss Cheese. What did I get? Miniatures that wouldn't even reach my knees! The Snake Plant, being generous, was maybe a foot tall, and the Monstera? More like a sad little bush at best, barely stretching 16 inches. So much for my jungle dreams. But Wait, It Gets Worse: Injury Insult Added Just to add insult to injury, the Monstera had these suspicious, clean cuts across its leaves, like something out of a plant horror movie. Needless to say, I wasn't exactly thrilled. C*sta F*rms: Masters of Excuses, Challengers of Customer Happiness: Hoping for a fix, I contacted them. Their response? A robotic apology and a technicality about measuring "from the bottom of the pot." Seriously, who measures a plant that way? And the leaf wounds? Radio silence. My email vanished into the customer service black hole. The Final Blow: Dead Plants and a Lighter Wallet:** Despite my best efforts, the stressed-out plants couldn't bounce back. I was left with brown, crispy reminders of my disappointment. Stuck past the return window, I was out money and morale. Shop Local, Shop Smart: Learn from my misfortune, plant friends. Skip C*sta F*rms and head to your local shop. You'll probably find healthier, honestly-sized plants, and most importantly, people who actually care about your plant parenthood journey. Remember, your hard-earned cash deserves better than misleading ads and cold customer service. PROS: The plant arrived ahead of schedule and was very well packaged so it didn’t budge and included a heat pack since the weather is cold here. The leaves are large and beautiful, and once you arrange them a bit and hold them in place with some sticks (I used the bamboo poles that they shipped with) and some plant ties it has a beautiful shape and looks lovely. I also wiped down the leaves with a damp paper towel to removed the dirt debris and dried water drop marks from shipping. And, I’ve only had it a week and it’s already growing a new leaf! CONS: Although packaged quite well, I did end up removing one of the largest leaves, that was torn in shipping. Not a big deal, and to be expected shipping from many states away. The main problem I am not too happy about is the root rot. My plant was shipped swimming in water, causing root rot, which you can see in my photo with the yellow spots with black center. So unfortunately I had to chop off that leaf as well to keep the fungus from spreading. I’m very relieved I caught it so early, otherwise I might have lost the whole plant. I repotted it immediately into fresh soil, but the poor plant was weeping out all of the excess water through its leaves for about a week. OVERALL: This plant exceeded expectations for a mail order plant! Once you do a little prep work, it is stunning. Honestly, even though there were a couple hiccups, I would definitely order again. Once it arrives, immediately take it out of its container, remove as much of the soaking wet dirt as possible, and replant it in fresh DAMP soil. Do not water until the first two inches of soil dry out. Once you do that, the plant will thrive if it’s in the right light and temperature. ... show more

I have previously ordered from this business and received some beautiful full of leaves plants. So I ordered a couple more recently. But the two that I received were very ok and very small with very few leaves.

It was such a beautiful plant! The packaging was good. There were some damaged leaves and some black spots on some other leaves but I just hope it’s from transportation cross the country and nothing bad with the plant. I’ll see how it does. Upd: it was definitely overwatered and had some root rot. I had to cut off a bunch of leaves and I’ll see if it makes it but my hopes aren’t high :) ... show more
