(8/29 update further down) Really wanted this plant and was disappointed to receive one that was not only not as full as what is advertised, but also had seven leaves broken during shipment, likely due to the planter legs being packed on top of them. Agree with another reviewer’s comment that while the planter is beautiful, the plastic pot insert was too tight. I had to use another planter to allow the plant to breathe and for easier handling while watering. Also, use caution when moving the planter legs as they are not secure. Some leaves were damaged when the planter fell out of the legs despite careful handling. The soil was extremely compacted like a flat pancake. Had to repot with better draining soil to avoid root rot. The new leaves are still very slow to grow considering I’ve had this plant for a month and a half. A new pup has since appeared so I’m very optimistic that the plant will thrive with some more TLC. I am also crossing my fingers that some of the broken leaves will root and grant me some new plants. This plant is a great addition to our home, just wish that at that price that there was better value for the money. 8/29 update (changed from 3 stars to 5): I’ve had my pilea for over five months now and it’s acclimated beautifully in its new home. The smaller pot and better draining soil really helped it rebound to become the strong mother plant that I hoped it would be. I put it back in its white planter stand although I’m still very careful when moving it. My pilea gets a substantial amount of natural light, even direct morning sun on some days. Over the summer it has been producing many new (and huge!) leaves as well as three pups that I transplanted and are also growing very fast. The leaves and stems are so perky and happy. Some of the leaves are wider than the size of my hand! Very satisfied now with my purchase. Four of the broken leaves from shipping have rooted so I’m hopeful that I’ll have new plants from them next Spring. The pilea was more resilient than I thought! Excellent shipping, plant was very secure, looked very healthy and just as expected! The planter is really nice quality, overall definitely worth the price, since a smaller Pilea could cost just as much and might not even come with a pot! NOTE: the plant comes in a plastic planter with drainage, but even this will keep it too wet - PUT IT IN A CLAY TERRA COTTA. Use this pretty planter for something that likes moisture. UPDATE: Added a recent picture of the plant growth and the biggest baby (it was watering day so they're a little wiltier than normal and as you can see, they do best in fast draining soil) Plant advice - Bright indirect sun (mine are in a heavily tinted, south facing window. East would probably be best). Drainage, drainage, drainage. Let the plant get to be about 90% dry then do a deep, thorough drench (my soil drains incredibly fast, so I do a deep watering once a week) ... show more

I’m in love! Received the plant in less than two days (but I live in Miami Beach) in great condition. Definitely had some broken leaves/stems, but overall I have a happy plant. I was very excited to see that it came with four babies already growing in the dirt and that the pot is ceramic as it wasn’t clear in the description. My plant with the stand to the top of the highest leaf is about 15 1/2 inches and looks great on my dining table. This is the second plant I have purchased from this vendor and again am a happy customer. They package the plants with care and ship you happy plants immediately - what’s not to love?! ... show more

PROS: The pot itself has a nice weight to it and is very sturdy. The plant and stand were very well packaged; everything was wrapped to safeguard during shipment. CONS: The stand that holds the pot is VERY cheap. It essentially looks like scrap pieces of bamboo were glued together. The plant lost quite a few leaves during shipment. I understand that can happen with shipping a plant, but I noticed that the soil was very wet and am guessing that is also a contributing factor. I was attracted to this plant initially by the pot and stand it comes with. However, after receiving it last month, I fell in love with the Pilea also ! It arrived in decent condition considering shipping, a few leaves came off of it when I was unwrapping it but that is to be expected after shipping. Unlike many other plants I've ordered online, nearly all the dirt was still in the pot. There was a surprise also, two little pups were in there with it! i've been able to remove those successfully and make two whole separate plants out of them. I love the pot and stand so much that I've been looking for the same one for some of my other plants. And I've been shocked by the price tag I've seen! I had initially thought that this was a little on the pricey side for this plant, but based on what I am seeing elsewhere for similar pot and stand combinations, it looks like this price is low for even just the pot and stand, much less the plant also. I waited about a month to review to make sure everything was ok. The outer cache pot and wooden stand are super cute! When this first arrived the plant was in good shape and the usual amount of shipping damage and shock was as expected. The soil was soaking wet and I contacted the company to ask if they thought it would bounce back after a couple of days. I was told to give it time to settle in and water it and it would be alright. The soil stayed soaking wet from shipping for a few days and I lost a bunch of the large leaves. I didn’t want it to rot, so after a few days, I changed the soil to help dry it out and have left it mostly undisturbed since then. It’s still alive, but all of the big leaves are gone. There is something to be said for the quality since it went through a lot of shock and is putting out new growth. Just be prepared for the inevitable loss and bounce back. ... show more
