  • Not for some cases...
Style: RMx Shift (ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0) Size: 850W
This is a great quality product from well-known reputable company, a PSU with great modularity and great performance, and frankly a good value. Lots of connectors and on the shift model, if that's what you're looking at side mounted connection points. Here's where the details come in. Is this PSU is primarily for cases with side mounted PSU slots, while in a wider case this might work in a flat mount situation, most likely you are going to need a fairly wide case to house the wiring coming off the supply without bending the wires too much. Even then in some side mount cases, or the PSU is mounted on its side, the wires sticking upright can still impede on certain things, for example with the Lian-Li o11 dynamic XL, The upright facing ports for the connectors on the wires to plug into impede with the bottom hot swap hard drive bay. Now if I really wanted to press the wires down flat against the power supply unit I could probably still fit the hot swap bay in the case, but it wouldn't give much room for the wires, nor allow for much passive heat dissipation from the PSU. In this particular instance with the case I chose a standard end connector output PSU would have been the better choice, as there is ample room at the end for wiring clutter, but due to the hot swap bay mounted above the power supply unit, the side output of the shift model is not intuitive for my case. Removal of the bottom hot swap bay in my case alleviated the issue, but also presents the inconvenience of not having all four hot swap bays available. I never thought I would use this feature, but over the years as I have acquired multiple hard drives and stored up massive amounts of data, it actually comes in handy for moving data back and forth between drives. So no stars docked for the design it's actually great, just really think about whether or not you need the side output connectors and whether or not you will have enough room in your case. They make it more convenient to plug and unplug additional wires without having to remove the power supply unit completely, however you may run into spacing issues in smaller cases. Situationally recommended. ... show more

  • Great PSU so far, but be aware there's a chance this won't fit in your case.
Style: RMx Shift (ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0) Size: 850W
I love this power supply and wished I could use it in my next build. I grabbed my first one when my power supply for my current computer decided to stop working and paired with the cablemod cables. It works great and fits well in the Fractal Design Pop Air Mini. With that said, and why I specified my case above, it was time for me to upgrade to a new build entirely. So, I wanted to grab another of these Shift variant PSUs to use in the new build. This WILL NOT fit in an NZXT H3 and as far as I've read, it won't fit the H5 Flow (2024) as well. Even with the cablemod cables, it just wasn't slim enough for the cables to sit inward enough for the back panel to close. I'm not lowering my rating based of this though. Sometime components don't fit. If the Shift was like 2-3mm thinner, I think it could've fit too. So, it's a shame but I anticipated this and had the standard RM850x on hand as well. PS--The normal RM850x will fit with the H3 Flow simply due to it being a standard looking PSU and that's the unit I went with instead. ... show more

  • good overall buy
Style: RMx Shift (ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0) Size: 850W
Made pc building really easy and it came with all the wires I needed. Pro tide, keep the other wires you dint use in case you add anything else in the future! Would buy again and its rated highly through independent testers! Look up PSU rating excel sheet and you can see how good this one is

  • Better than RM750x and worth the difference in $$
Style: RMx Shift (ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0) Size: 850W
I had a circuit breaker tripping from an arc fault, and it turns out the culprit was my old RM750x. The RM850x not only has more power capacity but higher rated components that can buffer noise from GPUs that can cause this, which solved the problem.

  • Great quality PSU
Style: RMx Shift (ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0) Size: 850W
Love this unit and the side cable inputs. It makes for a much cleaner setup inside the case. No issues with the PSU at all, it is super quiet and does the job well. My only minor complaint is I wish the cables were braided. The prices for nicely braided cable extensions is a bit much, I would have expected a higher end PSU to include them out of the box. ... show more

  • Great Unit!
Style: RMx Shift (ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0) Size: 850W
A superior, heavy-duty power supply that it set up in such a way to make it fit easier into your build. This was my first attempt to build a PC, and I was very impressed with this. Working beautifully.

  • Side Connectors
Style: RMx Shift (ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0) Size: 850W
I like the side connectors. If you want to change something or add something, it's quite handy to not have to pull the PSU out of the case to access the connectors. Don't care much for the wide ribbon style cables though. I usually buy Seasonic PSUs because I've used them for many years and they last forever. Time will tell how durable Corsair PSUs are. ... show more
