I needed something for my office chair that would work on carpet but didn’t want the plastic with the pointed grippers. I hesitated because I’m 6’ 230 and was afraid that would be too much weight. But I ordered to give it a try and am pleasantly surprised that I can slide my chair around. True - there is a little resistance vs being on a hard floor or plexiglass, but really not an issue for me. The mat does move a little but again, not an issue. Another plus is that it looks great!!! I ordered the retro black - it is a soft color, not harsh. Overall very pleased. A little better grip on the bottom since I use over medium pile carpet would be nice but definitely not a deal breaker. I just ordered a second mat for my other desk. ... show more

This chair mat that protects my floor is everything I had hoped for! For once when I sit in my computer chair I don't slide! The mat has a nice non-slide bottom layer and an attractive padded top layer. It's not too thick or too thin. I love that it folds for shipping or storage. The color is very nice, a pretty blue. I had to go with a solid because I have a colorful area rug in my family room, so this had to coordinate. I also love that the shape is a rectangle, so the width (vs. length) fits perfectly under my computer table and feet. I had comparison shopped in a big chain store and their pads were too stiff, too hard, too large, and too expensive. This is perfect! I'm a big guy - 6'6", 360 pounds, and I work from home. I have a powered standing desk, and an XL office chair, so I'm switching back and forth between standing and sitting all day. I noticed my office chair was tearing up the medium pile carpet in my office. I tried a few hard plastic chair mats -- they either shattered under my weight, or were too flexible, and made divots I couldn't roll my chair out of. This mat seems to strike a good middle ground between the two plastic extremes, has a nice fabric surface rather than plastic which makes standing on it more comfortable, and didn't break the bank to purchase. I mean what I put in my headline. I've had a bulky plastic mat in my office for about a year and needed to replace it because the area where my wheels typically sit was breaking off into very sharp pieces. My office has the same carpet that is through my house, so it's been hard to find something that will work. I came across this style and figured for the price and reviews I'd give it a shot. The package arrived in a flat box - the way the mat is folded makes it easy to unpack and allowed me to put it to use right away; no waiting for the rolled plastic mat to rest. My chair is moving freely and with the rectangular shape I'm able to place vertically or horizontally. The quality of the product is great too - although I just unpacked it I can tell this will last awhile and be easy to keep clean. I was pleasantly surprised at how solid this chair mat actually is. I was originally thinking to get another clear plastic mat, but this is much nicer, both in appearance and as a rolling surface—hard enough to allow for easy rolling, but soft enough to be comfortable to walk on. I cannot actually attest its durability, since it has just arrived, but it appears to be very solidly constructed out of durable materials. I think it will serve my needs well. ... show more

I got this kind of mat because the plastic mat I had before for my carpeted office kept breaking into tiny sharp pieces. This mat was very easy to set up- literally just unfold it- and so far is doing its job. Only concern is when you accidentally move the office chair's wheels off the map and back onto it there's a chance it'll get caught on the mat's side and cause it to fold. Granted, it's mentioned in the product's info to not bend, but this was an accidental thing. I guess as long as you're careful about how far back you push the chair it works. ... show more

Can't speak to durability yet as I've only had it for a few days. I can already tell it's leagues above the previous plastic mat. It feels much nicer underfoot, and works equally well on carpet thus far. Thought the char would have issues with rolling but haven't found any yet. I'm not expecting for it to last as long as the plastic, but hope to be pleasantly surprised. No complaints thus far. ... show more
