After putting the driver to work, I’ve given it another star. Yes, it first gave out a few sparks and odor of hot wire, but no more after a couple of hours usage. It’s a beast of burden! Lots of reserve torque with no discernible loss of power. Still a little noisy but it performs like a trick pony.

Buying a battery operated tool took months of research and questioning family and friends who regularly utilize drills , impact wrenches, and yard tools. I decided on Milwaukee. The 18 volt battery system will serve my needs. I immediately wanted a high torque driver to raise and lower the stabilizers on my rv trailer. Next I will get a cut off tool, then impact gun. I Will also need a pole tree branch trimmer and the quality and battery life will serve me well ... show more

    • Sparks, smokes and stiff switches- poor quality
I have used Milwaukee tools for 20 years and they have been top quality. NOT anymore I'm sorry to say. I bought a 2606-20 18V drill and returned it because the motor threw sparks, smelled and smoked. Also the speed and direction switches were stiff and hard to operate. This is not an isolated problem with Milwaukee because I recently returned a 2606-20 drill to a box-store for the same problems. As someone with technical training, this looks like an effort to change the design to a cheaper-to-manufacture product. You can guess where it was made... As usual, Amazon made good and gave me a full refund as promised. ... show more

I guess it's my fault that I should have known their tool meant without a belt clip still giving a five-star review only because I'm hoping it works as well as the rest of my Milwaukee stuff
